Salignac-Eyvigues walks

Put yourself in the shoes of the Lord of Lasserre and visit his lands between the dairy farm of Pech Mortier and the ruins of the mill on the banks of the Beune, passing by the castle. The return trip is via Marcillac, between fields and forests.

During this hike, you will discover a hilly, wooded area dotted with hamlets that bear witness to a rich farming history. The forest, composed of oak, hornbeam and chestnut trees, offers a rich palette of colours. Here and there, small islands of meadow add to this mosaic.

An easy walk through the forest ends at Notre-Dame de Fournet, with a beautiful view of the Couze valley. The route also offers a glimpse of Lake Chasteaux.

This hike takes you up to a higher elevation with a beautiful view of the Vézère River, and also allows you to discover two sites: - La Roque Saint-Christophe, troglodyte dwellings in a limestone cliff one kilometre long and sixty metres high, - and the village of Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère, listed as one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France.

With this walk, you will not only visit Beynac, the famous village clinging to its cliff, with its castle overlooking one of the Dordogne's meanders, but also Cazenac, a quiet little hamlet high up in the valley, with its small church featuring remarkable modern stained glass windows.

A beautiful walk along the Dordogne and the surrounding cliffs. The start and finish are in the picturesque village of Saint-Sozy. The outward journey is along the cliff overlooking the Dordogne and offers magnificent views of Belcastel, Lacave, Le Bougayrou and Saint-Sozy. The return trip from the pretty village of Blanzaguet offers access to numerous caves before reaching the banks of the Dordogne, where you can take a dip.

A short walk around the village of Turenne, listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France, with interesting views of the citadel.

This loop, mainly through woodland, will take you to some of the Périgord Noir's lesser-known châteaux: Saint-Rabier, Rastignac, Larres and Le-Maine. A steep climb will take you to the heights of Larres from Taravellou. The return journey is on a gentler slope through the village of La-Chapelle-Saint-Jean.
