Circular via Montignac-Lascaux and La Chapelle-Aubareil

Departure from Place Bertrand de Born.

(S/E) With your back to the Tourist Office, take Rue du 4 Septembre on the right, pass in front of the Church of Saint-Georges-du-Prieuré, and reach the roundabout.

(1) Continue straight ahead towards Sarlat. Continue to the street on the left, Chemin des Granges.

(2) Take this road and continue to the end of the street.

(3) Turn left onto Route de Montignac and continue to the stop sign, with Rue des Cacalous opposite.

(4) At the stop sign, continue straight on towards Aubas. You will reach Route de Montignac at the edge of the village.

(5) At the crossroads, turn right until you reach the bend and Route de l'Escaleyroux.

(6) Leave the main road and take the road on the left. Follow it until the second road on the right (Route du Sablou).

(7) Take this road to reach Route du Bourdal at a place called Le Combel.

(8) Keep left until you reach the crossroads at the top of the road at Leyssartrou.

(9) Continue left, then straight on to Route des Plateaux.

(10) Turn right and continue until you reach a fork.

(11) Turn left towards Le Bousquet and continue to the end of the road.

(12) Take the road on the right towards the village of Saint-Amand-de-Coly. After the car park, continue right towards Sarlat. You will reach a four-way intersection.

(13) At the stop sign, continue straight ahead towards Montignac-sur-Sarlat until you reach the stop sign on the D704 departmental road.

(14) Cross the road and continue straight ahead towards La Peytivie until you reach a crossroads with a cross.

(15) Turn left and join the D704.

(16) At the stop sign, turn right towards Sarlat and you will soon reach the next crossroads.

(17) Continue on the right towards La Chapelle-Aubareil and Route du Cimetière, at the corner of the cemetery.

(18) Turn left after the cemetery and you will reach a fork on Rue du Baradis. Turn right towards Valojoulx to reach the stop sign.

(19) Turn left and follow the signs for Valojoulx. Continue to Route de Valadier (signposted).

(20) Turn right and follow the road to the end of Route des Moulins, a few metres after the bridge over the Turançon.

(21) Take the road on the left and head towards the village of Valojoulx.

(22) Walk past the church and leave the village to reach a fork at the foot of a hill on Route du Fraysse. Take the road uphill on the right and continue straight ahead until you reach the river.

(23) Facing the river, take the road on the right and follow the Vézère to the Montignac-Lascaux bridge.

(24) Do not cross the bridge, but turn right and return to Place Bertran de Born (S/E).

(S/E) Public toilets on the Place du Prieuré next to the tourist office / charging stations at the entrance to the Place Bertran de Born car park (green and grey boxes).

(12) Take the road on the left to enter the village of Coly Saint-Amand. The toilets are in the courtyard of the town hall. Bicycle repairer: Vézère Périgord Noir mountain bike base.

(14) After the crossroads with the departmental road, there are picnic tables on the left.

(18) Turn right onto Rue de la Tour to reach the town centre (grocery store and public toilets a few metres away on the right).

(22) In the village of Valojoulx: self-service grocery store. Picnic table and public toilets next to the village hall.

(S/E) Lascaux IV caves (900 m) and Lascaux II caves (2 km).
