Description of the walk

The route starts in Aubac at the car park by the War Memorial and its signpost.

(S/E) With your back to the river, take the main road on the left, walk past the school and continue to the junction with the Route de Montignac; cross it and carry on straight ahead along the Route de Sauvebœuf towards the château.
Carry on along this small road, pass the château, then head up to the right to the hamlet of La Borie.

(1) When you reach the D45, Route de la Tranchée, head straight on through the woodland until you reach Route de l’Escaleyrou. Cross it and continue straight on. Stay on the path on the right twice, then keep to the left until you reach the junction near the road.

(2) Follow the path on the right, continuing along it until you reach the plateau.

(3) Turn off onto the path on the right, then right again. Continue along this path until you reach the hamlet of Vialard.

(4) Leave Vialard on your left and carry on straight ahead until you reach the road. Keep going straight until you join the Route du Combel.

(5) Turn left towards the hamlet of Le Combel; once there, turn right onto the Route du Combel and follow it until you reach a path leading straight ahead. At the junction of the paths, turn right and stay on the right-hand path towards the hamlet of Pechany, beginning a descent until you emerge from the woods.

(6) Turn left to reach the hamlet of Pechany.

(7) Take the path that branches off to the far left and climbs towards the hamlet of L’Arzemme and the Route des Palombes.

(8) Follow the path to the right for just a few metres before immediately joining the path on the right again. Continue along the path until you reach the Route de l’Arzemme.

(9) Carry on to the right until you reach the end of the street and the Route du Bigor.

(10) Turn right, then take the Route d’Aubas on the left before continuing right onto the Route de Montignac until you reach the first footpath.

(11) Follow the riverside path which runs alongside the Route de Montignac, continuing on the opposite side further on, then turn left onto the Rue des Cacalous.

(12) Walk past the church, on your right, and you’ll immediately reach the starting point (S/E).

One castle up close, the other two in the distance – or even very far away
A lovely stretch along the Vézère and a lovely high-up section through the woodland
Otherwise, quite a lot of tarmac at the start

A lovely walk!
Through meadows, walnut groves, fields and woods! We climb up onto the Causse plateau – a real change of scenery...
A lovely break in front of Sauveboeuf Castle and at the Escaleyrou viewpoint!
Highly recommended!
