Description of the walk

Signs for Montignac are visible from Sarlat, Les Eyzies, Thenon and the A89 motorway. Then follow the signs for Valojoulx. Enter the village. Park near the sign at the village hall car park.

(S/E) Turn right until you reach the first junction with the Route de la Teillède.

(1) Turn left onto the road opposite the stone cross and follow the yellow signposting for the Boucle du Posadou. Pass through the hamlet of La Teillède and continue along the Route de la Teillède until you reach the Impasse de la Combe.

(2) Continue along the road on the right. Cross the Ruisseau du Turançon and arrive at a junction with the Route des Moulins.

(3) Turn right. Head up the Route des Moulins, then continue along the Chemin des Étangs until you reach the first path on the left.

(4) Walk up the Posadou hill along a shaded path, with views of the ponds for about 300 metres. Continue to the top of the hill on the Route de la Poularie.

(5) Take the road on the left which leads back towards the village. Continue until you reach a cross.

(6) Take the path on the left until you reach the Route des Moulins and return to the starting point via the village centre (S/E).

It’s a pleasant little walk, especially in hot weather, as the route is relatively shaded.
It’s a bit of a shame that you can’t really make out the contours of the landscape or the valley below, especially after you’ve put in the effort of a good climb.
