Description of the route

Departure from the car park at the Lamothe Fénelon lake.

Yellow signposts (PR®)

(S/E) Head towards the village, cross the junction with caution and continue straight ahead towards the town hall and school, then turn right a few metres further on. There are some beautiful buildings to admire, including the bell tower of the Church of Sainte-Sixte.

(1) At the roundabout, turn left onto the D141, then quickly right (Route de Férral). Continue along a track until you reach a four-way intersection (altitude 173) with a sign for Chemin des Moulins.

(2) Continue right and descend to the hamlet of Caumeilles.

(3) In the centre of the hamlet, turn left (Route du Pueh Pointu). At the three-way junction, keep right and continue to a farm on the plateau.

(4) Turn right and continue to the hamlet of Campanole.

(5) Take the right-hand road (completely on the right as you descend, signposting not very visible). The tarmac road quickly gives way to a stony track that descends alongside several ponds until it joins a small road at Moulin de Tournefeuille.

(6) Turn right and then, shortly after, take the track on the right that follows the valley and joins Lamothe Haute.

(7) Turn left (D12), then, after the bridge, take the first right at the cross, in the middle of the houses (signs are not very visible). Continue along the small road (dead end) which turns into a track after the last house in the hamlet.

(8) At a place called Le Raysse, continue straight ahead on the track that runs alongside the river bed. Pass the Moulin d'Escalmeilles, which is not very visible but beautifully restored, and continue to the end of the track.

(9) Turn left and go up to the railway crossing.

(10) Take this road and join the D141. Continue straight ahead towards Pech Ayral on a small road uphill, then continue on a forest track (wheel ruts).

(11) At the top of the hill, the track descends to the left.Be careful, as it may be rutted and stony. Join a road, turn right, pass under the railway bridge and, at the edge of the forest, you will reach the start of the forest track.

(12) Follow it and, at the Gauliac mill, continue straight ahead until you reach the hamlet of La Barthe.

(13) Take the D12 on the right, with caution, and head towards the lake on the right (S/E).
