Description of the walk

Depart from the car park located at Place Saint-Aulaire, at the exit of La Roque-Gageac when coming from Sarlat.

(S/E) Leave the car park and take the road (Chemin des Choucas) on the right. Pass under the Château de la Malatrerie and continue along the street, which turns into a path and leads to the D703.

(1) Cross this busy road carefully and turn right onto the small path that branches off to the left towards the campsite. Head left to get closer to the banks of the Dordogne and continue towards the campsite. Cross the campsite, respecting the premises and the peace and quiet of the campers during the season. Reach the junction with a white path coming from the departmental road.

(2) Take the path on the left, return to the riverbank and turn right onto the path that runs alongside a stream.

(3) Take the path on the far left to cross the stone bridge over the stream, then continue along the path alongside a large walnut grove until you reach a beautiful view of the castle of Castelnaud-La-Chapelle.

(4) Turn around and cross the stream again.

(3) Continue the route by taking the path on the left and heading straight across the fields.

(2) Go straight ahead and retrace your steps to return to the car park (S/E).
