Circular Condat loop via the Foncillières and Brungidour plateaus

Circular route starting from the hamlet of Tranche, in the commune of Terrasson. Most of the route is on paths, starting from the hamlet where you can park your vehicle, then across the Foncillières and Brungidour plateau, well known to local hikers and mountain bikers. Woods, limestone plateaus, open views, high up at the start, then descent to the charming village of Condat, which you can visit by walking around it. Return via the D62 through Condat, then climb back up to the plateau via other paths.

Description of the walk

By car, coming from Terrasson-Centre, head towards the "Jardins de l'Imaginaire" on Route de la Fontaine Saint-Julien, and continue up a steep hill towards Tranche-la Baretie and Coly. About 50 metres after the "Tranche" sign, take the cul-de-sac on the right for 30 metres. Park your vehicle just after the bus shelter on the small square.

(S/E) Follow Chemin des Vignes, pass a farm and you will immediately reach Route des Perspectives.

(1) Follow this road, turning left. You will reach a three-way junction (elevation 240).

(2) Keep right towards the antennas. Pass the first one by about a hundred metres.

(3) Turn left onto the path, leaving the second antenna on your right, continue straight ahead at the intersection with another path and reach Condat-sur-Vézère via Rue du Brungidour. Once at the junction with Rue des Rouchoux, first turn right then left onto Rue des Consuls and come out onto the D62 (Rue de Coly) near the town hall.

(4) Turn right to reach the pedestrian crossing in front of the town hall, cross it and turn left to return to the car park. Take Rue des Barris on the right and arrive at Place Tourny. Turn left to see the waterfall and the confluence of the leat and Vézère rivers.

(5) Return to Rue des Barris, continue on the left to reach the Churchof Notre-Dame and Saint-Jean-Baptiste.

(6) Walk past the church, then turn left, passing in front of the old commandery to see the small Redonde-Basse bridge over the Coly. Return to the street and continue the route to the left, following Rue de la Cafourche, then Rue de la Trompetterie. Turn left to cross the bridge over the Coly river, then turn right onto Rue du Stade to join the D62 at the stadium.

(8) Cross carefully, then turn right and follow the road on the left-hand side. Continue for approximately 1.3 km.

(9) Take Chemin des Foncillières (tarmac) on the left, leave the cul-de-sac on the right and head back up towards the plateau to rejoin the outward route.

(2) Turn right and follow the path you took on the way out in the opposite direction to return to the junction at the farm.

(1) Continue straight on towards La Talerie, pass the hamlet and then take the path on the right.

(10) At the crossroads, go up the path on the right. Cross a wooded area, arrive at the edge and continue across the meadow along a low stone wall to return to La Tranche and the car park (S/E).
