Departure from the town hall square in Vitrac.
(S/E) Head towards Vitrac Church, which you can visit. Then retrace your steps and head north-east.
(1) At the second road on the right, head towards the cemetery. The road ends. Take the dirt track opposite, which climbs up to the edge of the woods and joins a dead-end road lined with houses. Follow it down to the Bastié stadium and then to the junction with the D703.
Turn right towards Vitrac Port and continue for 80 metres.
(2) At the clearing, cross the D703 and follow the road to the left towards La Rivière, Caudon and Lassagne, leaving the entrance to Rochebois behind you.
The small road stretches for 1.4 km, offering views of the golf course, then the Château de Montfort on the left and the Caudon cliffs on the right.
(3) At the stop sign at the crossroads, take the shaded oak-lined road opposite, which leads to a wide track 600 m further on.
(4) Follow this track to the right for 500 metres to reach the banks of the Dordogne.
(5) At the Point de vue de Caudon information point, enjoy the view and then retrace your steps.
(4) Continue straight ahead and, 200 metres further on, turn left onto the Montfort track to join a tarmac road.
(6) Turn right and follow the road to the village of Montfort.
(7) Stroll through the small village near the castle. Go back down to the restaurant "l'Angélus" on the RD703, cross it and pass in front of the restaurant "Le point de vue". After a 90° turn, turn left at the fork that follows.
(8) 50m further on, turn right onto the marked path signposted "Boucle de Montfort".
The path climbs up a terrace offering a final view of Montfort Castle.
The path enters a wood of holm oaks, sometimes lined with low walls. At a fork, near Séchebelle, take the path on the right. Continue along the path until you reach a road at a place called Péchibral.
(9) Turn left and then immediately right.
The road descends for 140 metres to the last house. Follow the path at the end of the road and continue straight ahead until you reach another road.
(10) Turn right and, at the next crossroads, turn right and then take the next hairpin bend on the left. Continue straight ahead until you reach the Place de la Mairie (S/E).
