Description of the walk

Head towards Montignac from Sarlat, Les Eyzies, Thenon and the A89 motorway. Head towards the town centre and park in one of the car parks to reach the Tourist Office.

(S/E) With your back to the Tourist Office, turn right onto Rue du 4 Septembre, then take Rue du Barry at the corner of the priory. Continue straight ahead for two crossroads, the first of which leads back to the car park. You will arrive at the junction of the circular.

(1) Turn left twice towards La Béchade, continue straight ahead, cross Avenue de Lascaux at the end of the road, then take the first left. Go around "La Béchade" via Chemin des Quatre Découvreurs. Ignore two crossroads until the path turns 90° to the right at the last house.

(2) Take a path on the left. Continue until you reach the tarmac road, which you should take opposite, until you reach Chemin de la Madeleine.

(3) Turn right towards the hamlet, climb the steep path that rejoins the tarmac road. Turn right, leave the hamlet of La Balutie on your left and continue straight on until you reach a fork on Chemin de la Grotte.

(4) Pass close to the Lascaux Cave.

(5) At the crossroads, turn left. Pass the Régourdou and Lascaux sites.

(6) After the sites, continue along Chemin de la Grotte to the left, go down the bends, join Route de la Chapelle and follow it to the right for about 100 metres until you reach Chemin de Puyrobert.

(6) Turn left towards Le Masnègre. Follow this path and take the first right. Pass between the walls and descend to the road, Chemin de Gouny.

(7) Turn right and continue to the end of the road.

(1) Turn left to return to the centre of Montignac via the same route you took on the way there (S/E).
