From the hiking information point at the Montignac Tourist Office, head towards Sarlat (D704). After 6 km, turn left towards St Amand de Coly. Park in the car park on Place du 14 Juillet, at the entrance to the village.
(S/E) With the car park behind you, take the road on the right towards Montignac-Sarlat (D704). Continue to the cemetery.
(1) Take the steep path and follow it alongside the walnut grove and the campsite. Cut across a path leading to the campsite, then continue left at the second fork until you reach the junction with the road. First turn right then left to continue to Route de l’Abbaye, the end of the path.
(2) Turn left onto the tarmac road, ignore the crossroads and keep turning left towards the hamlet known as "Le Bos". Walk down to the houses and past the farm.
(3) Continue to Route de Larnaudie, cross it and follow the path bordered on the right by a field until you reach Route de Foussigne, which you should take to the left for a few dozen metres.
(4) Turn right onto a hairpin bend; this leads into a small valley. After Le Tirondel, turn right. Continue along the path to the hamlet of Leymarie. Join the tarmac road and cross the hamlet.
(5) On leaving the hamlet, turn right, then left. Cross the Route de Lascaux (D704) with care. Ignore a path on the right until you reach the bend.
(6) Turn right, through the woods, onto a path lined first with heather, then with boxwood. Pass the Grande Peytivie farm. Immediately afterwards, continue straight on, then turn right until you reach the old Filolie gate. Turn right, follow the lock and the castle mill, and arrive at a junction.
(7) Turn right and continue. Pass under the arch of the railway bridge, beneath which flows a small, fast-moving stream. Turn left at the crossroads and follow theGR® 461 trail to the main road.
(8) Turn left at the junction with the Route de Sarlat (RD 704), then turn right after the first junction. Follow the red and white marked path up the valley to the junction with another valley.
(9) Once past the junction of the valleys, turn right to continue along this path, which is steep and rocky at the start, until you reach the tarmac road.
(10) Cross the road, pass the Genèbre farm and continue along the path to the car park on the right. The path leads through the boxwood trees to a cross bearing the date of the Holy Year 1900, whilst the descent, which is somewhat steep, offers a picture-postcard view of the abbey and the village of St-Amand-de-Coly. Return to the Place du 14 Juillet car park by turning left onto the Route du Gatinou (S/E).
