Walkers

My name is Sarah and I live in County Durham. I love to walk but having mobility issues means I can only manage short walks mainly in the towns and cities and along the coastline of the North East. Many of my walks are easy day walks and include visitor attractons meaning that walks can be done in smaller sections to enable more walkers to get out and enjoy the beautiful places here in the North East.

Hi. I am a walker, climber, mountaineer and cyclist. I was introduced to the hills of the Lake District and to fell walking by my Aunt and Uncle who were both National Park Wardens. Because of this the Lake District is like a home from home and it is a place that I love to explore and share with others. I am based in the NE of England so also take time out in the Durham Dales, The North Yorkshire Moors, The Cheviots and the Yorkshire Dales. I have walked and climbed in both Scotland and Wales as well as further afield in the alps.

I attempt to post walks, from a variety of areas, that are interesting and worth doing; some are easy and some quite challenging but all will be worthwhile for their scenery and or historical interest.

Hello, We are a french couple living in Cumbria, near the Lake District National Park in England. We have a personal blog in which we write all our hikes in UK. All our walks are dog friendly.

Former Mancunian now living north of Madrid at the foot of the Sierra de Guadarrama. Living the great outdoors both in Spain and in UK. Mostly just Living For The Moment.

The ethos for the Griffmonster Walks site is to share information with fellow walkers and hikers to assist in planning their own routes

Fifty odd pub walks of between three and five miles, centred on Newbury, together with a guide to walking the Kennet and Avon Canal. All routes suggested are either public rights of way, or permitted paths, but you can truncate or extend them by reference to the maps.

Barry Durman is chairman of the Millennium Way. 44 Circular Walks attached to a 100 mile trail in the Heart of England. Directions are very detailed and we have GPS on all our routes

Wakefield Council provides information on local services including education, social care, culture, leisure, waste, planning, transport and roads to Wakefield.

I have always been a walker mainly in Warwickshire, Gloucestshire and Oxfordshire. Moved to Lincolnshire in 2022 now at 82 still walking and leading a group od 10+ walks generally about 4 to 5 miles. 

The South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty covers 337 kilometres (130 square miles) of coastline, estuaries and countryside. It stretches from Berry Head in Brixham to Jennycliff in Plymouth. As well as being a place of fabulous views and fantastic countryside it is home to 34,000 people.

The designation of An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, means that it is one of the best bits of countryside in the whole of England and Wales! And that’s officially recognised by the UK government.

South Devon AONB is part of a family of protected landscapes across Britain, which also includes our National Parks. There are 46 AONBs in the UK. These areas are protected to keep them special now and for the future. They are wonderful for wildlife and scenery but also places where people live, work, relax and take care of the countryside.

The AONB management is coordinated by a Partnership Committee made up of local and national organisations, and community representatives from farming, business, parish council, voluntary and professional environmental organisations. Elections for the community representatives take place every three years. A small staff team is based in Totnes to run projects, activities and programmes.
