Circular via Montignac-Lascaux and the Lascaux Cave

This very easy circular mainly takes you around Montignac-Lascaux, a pretty village in the Vézère Valley. You will pass the famous Lascaux Cave and its facsimile, as well as the Neanderthal site at Régourdou.

Description of the route

Parking is available along the Vézère river on Avenue Aristide Briand.

Mountain bike trail no. 10

(S/E) With the Vézère on your left, head towards Allée Delbonnel and follow it to the right until you reach the end.

(1) At the stop sign, take the street on the right, then turn left onto the path after the stadium.

(2) At the end, turn left onto the path that runs alongside the stadium before joining the road.

(3) Keep right and continue to No. 21.

(4) Immediately afterwards, take the road on the left and continue straight ahead until you reach the end of the road on Route de la Chapelle.

(5) Keep right on the road towards Lascaux. At the fork, keep left and continue towards Lascaux.

(6) Take the road on the right, before the car park, towards the Bellevue accommodation. Continue along this road, pass Le Regourdou, and continue to the end of the road.

(7) Turn right towards Les Compouzines and join the next forest path on the left.

(8) Take this road and continue until you see a house on the left. Continue for a few metres and you will find a turning on the left, before the road.

(9) Take the path on the left and you will arrive at the tarmac road, Chemin des Quatre Découvreurs.

(10) Continue to the right, then turn right again at the stop sign.

(11) At the stop sign, go straight ahead and, at the next one, turn right and reach the junction with Chemin de Gouny.

(12) Turn left towards Moulin du Bleufond and return to the junction you passed on the way there.

(3) Turn right and return to Avenue Aristide Briand via the same route (S/E).

Between (11) and (3): continue to the end of Rue du Barry, where you will find public toilets next to the Tourist Office.
