Les Mureaux walks

The walk begins with a very varied section of the GRP® "Impressionist Seine" trail, starting with the imposing ESA Ariane rocket factory and its loading dock, a charming marina, the Val de Seine leisure island, and several large ponds. It continues with Triel-sur-Seine, its pleasant Parc Senet, and its Église St-Martin with its complex architecture. The crossing of the Bois d'Hautil via easy but unspoilt paths is worth the detour for its chestnut forests dotted with a few beautiful oak trees and pierced by a large number of chasms resulting from the collapse of underground quarries. The walk ends peacefully as you admire the confluence of the Oise and the Seine.

Half urban, half rural route to discover old Meulan-en-Yvelines and the views over the Aubette and Seine valleys.

A long hike from station to station, alternating between the banks of the Seine, forests, fields, towns and villages, offering numerous views of the Seine and the French Vexin. The route, dotted with historical landmarks, also serves as a reminder that heavy fighting took place in the region in August 1944.

A lovely walk along the banks of the Seine, passing through pretty villages such as Evecquemont. The starting point and finishing point are two stations on the same SNCF line.

This walk can be started from Meulan-Hardricourt station and follows marked paths for a good part of the way, even if they are not always easy to identify, particularly the access tothe GR® 2. During this walk, you can see the church of Hardricourt, pass through fields, see La Défense, enjoy the undergrowth, admire the pretty village of Mézy-sur-Seine and, if you are feeling adventurous, dip your feet in the water (in summer) and enjoy the banks of the Seine. Please note that in cold weather, some sections of the forest may be muddy and difficult to walk on.

A long hike from station to station that veers away from the Seine Valley (which is not particularly suitable for hiking in this area) and climbs to higher ground. The route alternates between wooded sections and stretches through fields with sweeping views. There is a wealth of heritage to discover, with two beautiful Romanesque churches in the first part and, towards the end and as a grand finale, the Gothic Collegiate Church of Mantes-la-Jolie.

Starting from the banks of the Seine opposite Île Verte, walk up the narrow streets and paths to Villa Paul Poiret.

A circular route which, on the outward journey, follows theGR®1from Vaux-sur-Seine to Sagy. The route passes very close to the Châteaux de Villette and Vaux. Before reaching the finish, the route runs alongside the Seine for a few hundred metres.

A water-themed hike: from the meanders of the Aubette to the springs that enliven the Vexin region.

This walk, which initially follows the Seine to Villennes, will allow you to see many different aspects of the riverbanks and the surrounding area. You will then take the town’s narrow streets, before heading back down through the woods and fields to Verneuil.

This walk through the old streets of Verneuil, its parks and gardens is not difficult. The walk continues through the forest and along some of its varied paths. End of the urban route, nice little shops, cheese shop, bakery, etc. Finally, a gently sloping path leads to the station.

This route is a circular route that will take you to Saint-Martin Church in Triel-sur-Seine, the castle and church in Vaux-sur-Seine, and Verneuil-sur-Seine Castle. The climb up to the heights of Triel offers panoramic views over part of the valley. For the first few kilometres, you’ll follow the GR®1 (a 570 km circular route around Paris) before returning via the GR® de Pays “La Seine Impressionniste” and the Verneuil-sur-Seine leisure centre.

A hike from station to station which, with a few climbs, leads from the Seine valley to the Oise valley. After the streets, alleys and paths of Triel-sur-Seine and Chanteloup-les-Vignes, you cross the Hautil Forest in a very pleasant way. Three beautiful churches and two beautiful farmhouses are to be discovered along the way.

Circular route from Juziers station, alternating between farmland and forests. Several interesting churches (unfortunately often closed), beautiful wash houses, a fountain with its statue still intact. And of course, the beautiful covered walkway of the Mare aux Fées, which is well worth a detour.

During this varied, hilly hike, you will discover three small villages as you stroll along narrow streets and paths. You will walk along a few hillside and woodland trails, discover beautiful viewpoints and stroll along the Seine on your return.

A walk around Juziers that allows you to discover its heritage, a panoramic view of the valley and a pleasant return trip along a towpath on the banks of the Seine.

This walk will first take you on a journey of discovery through the heritage of this district of Aubergenville and Épône, an avant-garde holiday resort created in the 1920s. On the way back, you will walk along the Mauldre and Giboin rivers to reach the "beach".

Starting from the old village of Aubergenville, you’ll soon be walking through woods and fields towards remote hamlets. You’ll then pass through the Parc d’Acosta estate, built in 1962 amidst lush vegetation, before returning to the old village and the final sights of the walk.

Hike through the fields and woods near Oinville-sur-Montcient. There are a few hills during this walk.

A walk through the woods and plains of the French Vexin, to admire the banks of the Seine and Île Verte.

In the southern French Vexin region, this circuit takes you through fields and woods, playing leapfrog with the River Montcient. The Cave aux Fées, a covered passage dating from 2500 BC, bears witness to ancient human occupation. A dovecote, an old water mill and several wash houses are also worth seeing.

At the southern edge of the French Vexin, a loop that starts along the Montcient river, with the old Moulin Brûlé, and then alternates between ascents and descents in the woods or between fields.

This is a route for walkers who enjoy charming, forgotten little paths that make you forget you’re only 50 km from Paris; however, the route is sometimes unclear, requiring careful attention (Visorando app recommended). These paths are not always regularly maintained: bare legs are not recommended.

A hilly route from village to village, with views of Paris and La Défense.

This path, starting from Morainvilliers church (see the Practical Information section), circles Les Alluets-le-Roi, staying in the woods as much as possible. It is therefore more pleasant to walk on in fine weather and when the paths are less muddy.

This walk will take you along streams and through countryside, valleys and paths to discover the heritage of three charming villages. Beautiful views are also on the menu for this walk.

The banks of the Seine and the hillsides in Triel-sur-Seine

A circular route for a day's hike. Starting from Sagy, you will pass through Saillancourt, Villette, Condécourt, Longuesse and Vigny.

Starting from the village of Bazemont, rich in heritage, this is a forest loop for a good half of the route, with passages between fields and along the streams that drain them.

This short walk will take you through a small valley to Vaux-les-Huguenots, where Protestants fled persecution, then on to Aigue Flore Park in La Falaise, where you’ll cross the River Mauldre and come across various little heritage gems.

A varied hike with some elevation gain. You will pass through a few villages or residential areas and alternate between woods and cultivated fields.

During this short urban walk, you will discover not only wash houses and fountains, but also a beautiful church and several historic sites in the town.

A hike in the heart of the Vexin Regional Nature Park.

During this walk, you will discover the heritage of Épône, the birthplace of the Fifth Republic, and also set off in search of the wash houses of Mézières through fields, woods and hamlets.

A walk that is half rural, half woodland, allowing you to visit 11 wash houses scattered throughout the region's pretty villages, of various styles and constructions, most of them decorated with flowers, some of which are quite complex in design and/or large in size, offering clear, refreshing running water (although not drinkable), which is much appreciated when temperatures soar above 30°C. Two viewpoints over Mantes-la-Jolie and its collegiate church, and the chimneys of the Porcheville power station, which are often in view.

Starting from the charming village of Brueil en Vexin, you will pass La Cave aux Fées, a Neolithic burial site dating from around 2000 BCE. Then, through a varied, hilly landscape, you will discover a few hamlets and a village with its wash house and old bridge.

This walk retraces the Battle of Vexin at the end of August 1944 thanks to the numerous explanatory panels placed along the route.

This circular route follows theGR®1 trailfrom Parc de la Bruneterie in Orgeval to the Forest of Marly on the way there. On the way back, the route crosses the Joyenval Golf Course and the commune of Chambourcy.

This route follows part ofthe GR®26 trailon the plateau above the Mauldre.

After exploring Maule and its heritage, you will climb through the woods and walk through the countryside to reach Aulnay-sur-Mauldre. From there, you will follow the Mauldre and its recent meanders back to the starting point.

A hike from station to station with the Oise as the guiding thread. You will cross several wooded parks and follow the river for a long time, mostly on a right of way. At the end of the route, the passage through Auvers-sur-Oise is an opportunity to evoke the famous painter Vincent Van Gogh.

This mainly forest hike will take you to the Galluis Regional Forest, then on to the village of Frémainville, where you will discover some interesting heritage sites. It is best to do this walk during the dry season.

A loop starting from Vigny via Théméricourt and Avernes.

Walk from Maule to the pretty village of Herbeville and its plateau, then explore the Bois des Mesnuls before returning via the Chemin de Tourneroue.

A circular route in the French Vexin, mainly through fields. Starting from the church in Vigny, the route passes through the villages of Sagy and Longuesse, each with their own church.

Montainville is situated in the centre of the Yvelines department. The commune’s territory extends across the eastern edge of the Mantois plateau and the western slope of the Mauldre valley. The village site forms a promontory bounded by two valleys named after their springs: the Serpe valley to the north and the Orme valley to the south.

A hike along the hillsides on both banks of the Mauldre river, offering beautiful panoramic views. There are heritage sites to discover in the three towns along the route.

A fairly easy walk from station to station, the first part of which is through woodland where you can admire superb specimens of various species of deciduous trees, particularly beeches and oaks, which are certainly over a hundred years old. You also pass close to the Alluets-le-Roi telecommunications centre and its many antennas of all types.The second part, which is more varied, includes a visit to the ruins of Abbecourt Abbey and the centres of the villages of Orgeval and Villennes-sur-Seine with their churches. The walk ends with a pleasant stroll along the banks of the Seine.

A walk starting from the new town of Cergy will take you past the circular bends of the Oise, the Cergy leisure centre and its ponds, and the old villages of Vauréal, Jouy-le-Moutier and Neuville-sur-Oise in the Val d'Oise. You will arrive in the Yvelines at Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, the capital of inland waterway transport at the confluence of the Seine and the Oise.

This short, undulating walk will take you through woods, fields and meadows to discover two charming villages in the French Vexin and their heritage attractions. Peace and tranquillity await!

A short hike in the rolling landscape of the French Vexin, among woods, fields and meadows that are home to many horses.

A pleasant hike through the forest and along a golf course in a little-known part of the Marly National Forest.

A hike on the slopes of both banks of the Viosne, alternating between cultivated fields, woodland and charming villages. For about 3 kilometres, the route follows the course of an ancient Roman road, the Chaussée Jules César. There is a rich heritage to discover along the way: mills, a castle, churches, crosses, wash houses and beautiful houses.

Between town and countryside, this walk is mainly marked by yellow PR® markers.
