Departure from Tessancourt-sur-Aubette, car park at Saint-Nicolas Church.
(S/E) On Grande Rue, opposite the church gate, turn right onto Chemin des Petites Fontaines (heading south-east then south-south-east). At the end of the road, turn left onto Rue de la Marèche then immediately right onto Rue du Pré aux Loups.
At the end of the street, turn left onto Vieille Route de Meulan. Continue along the road through the village, fields and woods. After 1.2 km, turn left onto Rue de la Maison Blanche at the corner of the castle wall.
(1). The street passes in front of a pond, crosses the Aubette and enters the village of Villette.
(2) At the end of the street, turn left onto Place du Moulin, then right at the Y-junction onto Rue des Champs.
(3) At the end of the street, join the D28 (Route de Meulan) and turn left, then 20 metres further on, turn right onto a farm track (just after a copse). The route follows aGR® trail, look out for the red and white markings.
The path turns 90° to the right, then 90° to the left. After 250 m, take the path on the right. After 1 km, the path leads to Route de la Petite Cavée.
(4) Turn right and enter Condécourt. Continue straight on to Place de l'Église, then onto Rue de la Libération, which is a continuation of the same road.
(5) Continue on the D169 for 1.1 km. Pass Rue des Aulnes on the right (500 m) then turn right after 600 m (just before passing under the high-voltage lines, clearly visibleGR® marker).
(: 6) At the end of the path, turn left between the fields and woods. After 300 m, the path curves to the right as it enters the woods, passes to the right of a tennis court, crosses the Aubette over a small bridge before arriving at a T-junction.
(7) Turn left and follow theGR®1for 2 km to Longuesse. Cross the D81 (Rue de L'aubette).
(8) Follow Chemin des Marais for 100 m, then take the path on the left alongside the Aubette for 200 m. At the end, take Rue du Moulin on the left for about ten metres, then, in the left-hand bend, turn immediately right (mountain bike trail marker,PR®?).
(9) At the Y-junction just after, take the right-hand branch.
(10) Walk along the right-hand side of the Vigny Nature Reserve woods. Continue for 2 km, passing close to the water treatment plant (on the right) and join the D169.
Cross it. The path runs along the wall of the castle grounds. 500 m further on, at the corner of the wall, continue straight ahead.
(11) After 700 m, at the next crossroads, go straight ahead: you will come back onto aPR® (yellow markings).
(12) Continue for 900 metres until you reach the D51.
(13) Cross over and take Rue de la Croix des Ruelles opposite. 150 m further on, enter the grounds of the Musée du Vexin Français on the right. Cross through the grounds and you will come out onto Rue Achim d'Abos.
(14) Turn left, continue along Place Saint-Lô, then Rue de la Croix Bossière and pass in front of the Moulin des Champs.
At the intersection marked with a stone cross, turn left towards the village of Avernes.
(15) 100 metres further on, before reaching a tarmac road, turn right at the Y-junction (Rue du Clos Pringent).
(16) Enter Avernes. At the T-junction, turn left onto the D43 (Grande Rue). Pass the post office and the town hall.
(17) 400 metres further on, at the Y-junction, after passing Impasse Montenolle on the right, turn right onto Rue des Prés (no street sign).
When you reach the D81, cross it and take the path opposite (Chemin des Mocques-Paniers, no sign). Continue for 400 m until you reach a wood. At the Y-junction (not shown on the IGN map), take the left branch that enters the wood (the right branch runs along the edge). 350 m further on, turn left (yellowPR® marker clearly visible on an oak tree opposite).
Continue south-southeast for 800 m, then leave thePR® by turning right.
(18) Continue for 600 m (south-west) and you will reach a Y-junction.
(19). Take the left branch (black arrow on a white background pointing left, visible on the trunk of a large oak tree). Follow the path downhill for 300 m, then turn left. Pass to the right of a pond, then the Grue farm (imposing surrounding wall, medieval tower visible through the trees).
Enter Frémainville via Rue des Sources. At the end of the street, turn left onto Rue du Bout Sirop, then, 40 m further on, turn right onto Rue des Ormeteaux.
::20:. Pass Rue du Bourg on your left, then Chemin de Mantes.
Reach the D43 and cross it. Continue along the path opposite until you reach a road (reservoir just behind) where you turn right.
(21) Enter Rueil via Rue de la Cavée, which continues as Rue Saint-Jean (pretty wash house and footbath on the left).
(22) 100 m after the wash house, take Chemin de Mézy on the right. After 600 m on the path, turn left at a Y-junction.
(23) Pass under the high-voltage power lines and continue straight ahead until you reach a wall surrounding a wood. Turn right onto the path that runs alongside the wall and the protective fence. Walk between two fences, staying on the main path and ignoring a turn-off to the right.
(24) At the end of the path, enter Gaillon-sur-Montcient via Rue de la Cavée. At the end of the street, turn right onto Grande Rue, then left onto Place de la Mairie, which continues onto Rue du Point du Jour. After 400 m, turn left onto Rue des Bouts de la Ville, then immediately right onto a tarmac road leading to a housing estate (under construction as of 15/11/2015).
Continue straight ahead on the farm track for 1.2 km until you reach the D28. Cross the road and continue straight ahead to Chemin de Gaillon. Turn right onto this road to return to the starting point opposite the church (S/E).
