Description of the walk

(S/E) Starting from the village car park opposite the butcher's shop, head towards Chardronville, passing under the power lines to join the D28 via Rue des Prés and then Rue Pierre Bonte on the left.
Cross the D28 (be careful, heavy traffic and no pedestrian crossing).

(1) Turn left onto Chemin du Vaux Roux, continue along this path to Saillancourt, then turn right onto Chemin du Héron.

(2) Head towards the woods via the dirt track on the right and walk along the edge of the Bois du Héron.

(3) Turn onto the first path on the left, then take the first path on the right, which joins aPR® on the right. Continue straight ahead and pass through the woods.

(4) At the end, take the path on the left and when you reach a fork, turn right onto the path that descends gently. Follow the path and you will see the "Stèle" (large column on the other side of the Château de Vilette park).

(5) After a hairpin bend in the woods, you will see Château de Villette. Go down the road and continue straight ahead, slightly to the left, following the red and white markings ofthe GR®1. Pass an old mill, turn left onto Place du Moulin, then right to rejoin and cross the D28 again (use the pedestrian crossing, as there is traffic).

(6) Turn right at the pylon. The road continues along a path that branches off to the right to join Rue de la Petite Cavée in Condécourt. Turn right until you reach the D169.

(7) Continue left to cross the village via the D169 and continue straight on Rue des Champs Saint-Denis (mind the traffic).

(8) Take the first path on the right before the high-voltage line, continue on the left, passing under the line, then turn right.

(9) After the tennis courts, turn left onto the path (Paris/London greenway) and walk alongside the Petites Auges de Sagy and Maraîchère ponds.

(10) Leave theGR®1and turn left onto the D81 as you enter Longuesse, then right onto the D169. Pass in front of the church, then take the street on the left. Turn left again onto Rue des Baudes and continue to the calvary (La Croix Rouge).

(11) Turn right, at the end of the road turn right and then take the first road on the right.

(12) Turn left at the edge of the Bois de Terre Sainte, then turn right onto the path to reach the corner of the Château de Vigny wall.

(13) Cross the D169 and take the long climb opposite. Back in Longuesse, at the bottom of the descent, turn left into Rue du Moulin (you are leaving theGR®1) and continue to the cemetery.

(14) Turn right after the cemetery, follow this path, pass in front of the Musée de la Moisson and continue along the road until you reach the T-junction.

(15) Turn right at the entrance to Sagy. Before the cemetery, follow the left fork to reach the car park (S/E).

Worth a visit

Château de Villette (Condécourt)
Its history: This castle was built between 1663 and 1669 based on plans by François Mansart and completed by his grand-nephew Jules Hardouin-Mansart for Jean Dyel, first president of the Court of Aydes of Normandy and French ambassador to Venice. It replaced an old fortress. The outbuildings, arranged on either side of a large paved courtyard, include a chapel where, on 28 December 1786, Sophie de Grouchy, daughter of the owner and sister of the future Marshal of the Empire, married the Marquis de Condorcet in the presence of the Marquis de La Fayette, who was a witness to the marriage.

The castle and cinema: * In the film "Tintin and the Mystery of the Golden Fleece", released in 1961, the castle is used to represent Captain Haddock's Château de Moulinsart.

  • In the film "The Da Vinci Code", released in 2006, it is the property of Sir Leigh Teabing.
  • In the film "Pièce montée", shot in 2009, it serves as the setting for the wedding meal and reception.

An interesting, varied route that passes through beautiful little villages in the Vexin region.
Having read the previous reviews, it is best not to do this route in very cold weather, but it is also advisable not to do it in very hot weather. The section between Longuesse and Vigny (points 11, 12 and 13) is very exposed. There is no shade, no trees, and in full sun it can be a bit challenging.

A lovely walk in the sunshine. Avoid in winter when it is cold and windy, as the temperature is low. The start/finish point in the middle of the route is a plus. There is a nice picnic area after point 9, in the middle of the route. Take a detour via the PR to see the old quarry between points 13 and 14.

We did this hike in two stages. We resumed the route at point 9. This second part is suitable for Nordic walking: wide paths, long straight stretches... The route is very exposed on flat ground, so avoid unfavourable weather conditions such as high temperatures and strong winds.

We completed half of this hike. At point 9, we returned to the starting point. Avoid in dry, windy weather as it is often exposed. The path is slightly muddy in the undergrowth between 2 and 3. A farmer has nibbled away part of the path between 8 and 9. A pleasant route and very well explained. See you tomorrow for the second part.

A lovely walk in the early sunny autumn.
A pedestrian crossing has been installed for crossing the D28 at the start of the route.
Be careful nonetheless.

Hello,
The map is spot on, but the hike isn't particularly interesting. The first half, which is mostly through fields, is quite pleasant, but the second half, which is mostly on tarmac, is pretty dull.
We wouldn't really recommend it...

No particular difficulties. A lovely walk in the rolling hills of Vexin.
The view of Villette Castle is lovely.
Water points at Longuesse Town Hall (waypoint 10) and the toilets at Vigny Sports Park (waypoint 13). I couldn't find the one at Longuesse Cemetery.
