Parking with a disc or paid parking: many adjacent streets, even in the town centre, have car parks or spaces available.
(S/E) With your back to the station, cross Place du Général Charles de Gaulle to reach Avenue du Château. Turn right and continue to Rue Basse. On the right is the old castle, now Notre Dame school; a little further to the left is the old farm, now converted into housing, and on the left is the old barn, now a media library.
(1) Continue straight ahead, cross Grande Rue (bakery on the right), and cross the forecourt of the 9th-15th century Saint-Martin de Verneuil-sur-Seine Church. Immediately afterwards, continue left across Place Pierre Mendès France (market on Wednesday and Sunday mornings), cross Rue Delapierre to arrive at the Municipal School of Music and Dance Park.
Walk down through the park and exit through a beautiful gate, then turn right onto Grande Rue and right again onto Rue du Maréchal Koenig to reach the roundabout on Avenue Georges Clémenceau.
(2) Cross the roundabout using the pedestrian crossing on the right, turn left and then right onto Ruelle de l'Étang. At the top, turn left onto Rue de l'Étang, follow it for about 60 metres, then turn right onto Rue du Petit Étang and follow it to the entrance to the Jardins d'Aguilar, formerly Parc du Talweg.
(3) Cross the park on the right. There is a children's playground and a pleasant place to take a break.
Leave the park via a small climb on the right and turn left onto Chemin des Fours à Chaux. After 180 metres, take a small path on the right at bus stop 31 and follow it for 200 metres.
(4) Cross Rue des Vignes and walk along Parc Marcel Gotlib on your right. Take Avenue Alexis de Tocqueville to a green slope, a small meadow, and walk straight down it, heading north for 180 m before turning right, just before the first building, onto a small passageway towards Rue Weiterstadt. Turn left and join Rue de Bazincourt, then follow it to the left via a roundabout until you reach the edge of the forest (cemetery on your left).
(5) Enter the forest via Chemin de Bazincourt. Follow the path (Chemin des Pâtures de la Commune) for 250 m, walking alongside a stream and a private property fence on your left, to climb a small hill. Ignore all paths leading off to the right!
(6) Turn left and follow the path for 400 m as it curves gently to the right. Follow the route.
(7) Then turn right, leaving a fence and fields on your left. Continue for about 500 metres to reach Carrefour du Chêne Ferré.
(8) Turn left at tree no. 10, onto Route Notre-Dame-des-Neiges, join Allée des Coquetiers and then, on the right, Allée de Séparation. After 150 m straight ahead, staying on this red path, turn right onto Chemin des Cornouillers (IGN name and indicated as Georges Rémy).
This is the widest and straightest path! Continue straight ahead, ignoring all other paths, until you reach Rue des Cornouillers and Boulevard André Malraux.
(9) Turn right and continue straight ahead at the roundabout.
(10) Go down the stairs on the left just after Rue de l'Abbé Masure, cross Clos du Verger and, almost opposite, take a small passageway towards Grande Rue. Turn onto Rue aux Cannes opposite and you will find yourself back at the original crossroads.
(1) Turn left, then keep to the right to follow Rue des Pré and Avenue du Château to return to the car park at Place du Général Charles de Gaulle or Vernouillet-Verneuil station (S/E).
