Seraincourt: 19 km from Cergy-Pontoise via the D14 and D51 and 17 km from Mantes-la-Jolie via the D983 and D913
Starting point: car park in front of Le Centre school at 63 Rue Normande.
(S/E) With your back to the school, head left. Just after a sign for "Rueil commune de Seraincourt", turn immediately left, crossing a small bridge and taking a path that runs alongside a hedge of thuja trees on your right. At the T-junction, turn right and cross a leat to arrive a little further on at Rue du Blanc Moulin, where you turn left.
(1) At the next fork, turn right onto Chemin des Renoulets, then at the T-junction, turn right onto Rue de l'Aulnaie. Then take Rue de la Cavée on the right, ignore Rue Normande and continue along Rue Saint-Jean.
(2) At No. 13, make a quick detour to the left to see a wash house. On your return, turn left onto Rue Saint-Jean. Pass a crossroads and ignore a turn-off to the right. After No. 16, turn right onto a path that runs alongside the Montoir farm and turn left at the next crossroads.
(3) After about 200 m (there is a landscape information table), turn right down a grassy path and then turn left at the next crossroads. Then take Rue des Pâtis on the right.
(4) After No. 8, immediately turn left onto a path (there is a sign prohibiting horse riders and horses) that runs alongside the Ru de l'Eau Brillante. Pass a street on your right and then, at the end, turn right onto Rue de la Colline and continue for about 50 metres.
(5) Make a short detour to the left into Ruelle du Vieux Moulin to see the waterfall. Retrace your steps, turn left, then right into Rue de l'Aubette and left into Rue des Vallées.
(6) At the triangular crossroads, turn left onto Rue de la Bernon, cross the crossroads and continue straight ahead. Ignore the turnings on the left until you reach an X-shaped crossroads. You will see a yellow marker on your left on an electricity pole.
(7) Turn right immediately (there is a yellow marker on a stone on your right). At the next crossroads, continue straight ahead along Chemin de Damply. After about 900 m, turn right at the T-junction.
(8) At the junction with the D 205, turn left. Immediately turn left again into Rue du Moulin des Prés, pass an old mill and continue along the path. Ignore a turn-off to the left. At the end of Chemin de la Croix de Damply (sign), turn right into a cul-de-sac. Continue along a grassy path and a small footpath. At the end of the footpath, turn left. Further on, follow Rue Mégrimont to the right. Cross the D205 opposite the town hall and take Rue de l'Église to the left of it.
(9) Just before No. 7, turn left onto a small path that runs alongside the Bernon stream. Cross a small bridge, continue to the left and then head a little further to the left onto the tarmac path of the Bernon.
(10) At the T-junction, turn left and walk back to see the source of the Bernon. On your return, continue straight ahead to a crossroads where you turn right. Further on, turn left into Rue des Lavandières. At the T-junction, turn right to the church.
(11) Climb the few steps leading up to it, walk along it and then cross the cemetery to exit on the left. A few metres further on, turn right onto a path. Ignore a turning on the left. At the next fork, go down to the right.
(12) At the D205, continue carefully to the left, ignore a turn-off to the right and continue to the crossroads you have already passed.
(8) At the crossroads, continue straight ahead with caution.
(13) Turn left at the first turn, Chemin des Noquets. At No. 34, take a small grassy path on the right, pass by a wash house and immediately turn left, Chemin de la Messe. Cross a street on the left, then a street on the right and go up the cul-de-sac.
(14) At the corner of the castle wall, turn left. At the T-junction, continue right then left towards the school and left again opposite it.
(15) At the triangular crossroads, turn right onto Chemin du Hazay. Ignore the side roads until you reach Impasse Sente de la Tuilerie opposite. At the T-junction, turn right.
(16) At the new T-junction, turn right. Cross the road and walk up Allée des Tilleuls to the castle. Turn left/right onto Rue des Tilleuls towards the church.
(17) Make a quick return trip to see the church and on your way back, turn right onto Rue du Moustier. At the next fork, turn right onto Sente du Marais Duval, which runs along the castle's surrounding wall. At the first fork, continue left. Further on, at the next fork, continue left onto a small path.
(18) When you reach the D43, go up to the left along the hairpin bend of Impasse Bellevue towards the cemetery. At the corner of the cemetery, go down to the right along the path that runs alongside it. Go left for a few metres to cross the D43 at the pedestrian crossing, then go down the few steps and along the tarmac path. Turn left to return to the car park (S/E).
