The banks of the Seine from Oinville-sur-Montcient

Car park at Oinville Town Hall, at the bottom of Rue de Gournay.

(S/E) Set off along Rue de Gournay, leaving the town hall on your right, and turn immediately left into Chemin des Moines.

(1) Ignore the return path on the right and continue straight ahead. At the end, turn right into the street and immediately onto a path climbing up to the left at a sharp angle. After 100 metres, turn right onto an uphill path.

(2) At the end of the path, under a high-voltage power line, turn right. The path joins a small road; follow it to the left, still uphill. At the water tower, continue along the small road which turns to the left. After 800 metres, you will arrive in front of Dalibray Castle (end of the tarmac section).

(3) Continue along the path, which turns left 100 metres further on, and, as you leave the hamlet, take a steeply ascending path on the right.

(4) At the end of the path, turn right, then take the first path on the left, and continue to a riding school.

(5) In front of the riding centre, continue straight ahead along a small road. The road leads into Mézy-sur-Seine.

(6) Continue straight downhill along Rue de la Croix, then Rue Erambert. Cross the whole of Mézy along this route, passing the church, going under the railway bridge, and arriving at a traffic light.

(7) Cross Avenue Chateaubriand (take care), and continue straight on along Rue du Port. Then take the first street on the right, which becomes a path running alongside the Seine. After about 2 km, the path leads to a car park. Turn right, towards Juziers church. Cross Avenue de Paris (take care), and go round the church on the left.

(8) At the church porch, take a narrow lane (2-metre height restriction sign) which climbs steeply. The alley quickly turns into a flight of steps that passes under the railway line. When you reach a dead end at the top of the steps, continue straight ahead. At a crossroads, continue straight up a grassy path. The path leads onto Rue de la Côte d’Apremont; continue straight ahead.

(9) At the Apremont crossroads, continue straight up Chemin des Sablons. At the crossroads after the water tower, continue straight ahead along a grassy path.

(10) After 800 metres, at the crossroads, continue straight on along a grassy path that enters the Bois de la Chartre.

(11) At a crossroads with a path descending from the right, continue straight ahead, leaving the Chemin de la Gueule Rouge which climbs to the left, and continue along the path which narrows, before turning right and climbing steeply. At the top, join a wider path.

(12) Take this path to the right and, immediately afterwards, turn sharply left. When you reach a crossroads of paths, under the high-voltage power line, turn right down the slope. You will arrive in a wood.

(13) At the crossroads, turn right and then immediately left, and follow the path to the entrance to Oinville.

(14) Turn right onto the first street (no entry) which descends steeply, passing in front of the school. At the bottom, turn right onto Rue de l’Église, pass in front of Saint-Séverin Church and, after No. 17, turn left onto the green corridor which begins with a descent of a few steps. At the bottom of the green corridor, turn left onto Chemin des Moines, which takes you back to the junction you passed at the start of the walk.

(1) Turn left and follow the outward route in the opposite direction to return to the car park (S/E).
