Car park, Place de la Gare, in Mareil-sur-Maudre (Transilien line N).
There is a car park on either side of the railway tracks.
(S/E) Leaving the car park, head towards the level crossing and turn left down Rue Christian Pouillard until you reach a roundabout. Turn left and go down Rue des Fontaines to see a wash house (about 50 m away). Then continue left for 100 m on Route de Rambouillet (D191) and cross at the pedestrian crossing. Opposite, follow the small alleyway that leads to a footbridge over the Mauldre river.
(1) Then turn right onto Rue Degly Maillot, then left onto Rue du Château and finally right onto Ruelle Saint-Martin. When you reach the church, climb the few steps and walk along the right-hand side of the building. Climb a staircase to reach the war memorial. Then turn left onto Rue Noblet Gandon. At the fork that appears immediately, continue left along Chemin des Deux Croix until you reach a road.
(2) Follow this road to the right with caution for about 250 metres. After passing a wash house on your right, turn left onto a path near a bus stop. At the next fork, go up to the right. Ignore the side roads and continue until you reach Chemin du Moulin in Montainville.
(3) At the next crossroads, turn left onto Rue du Fort. Ignore the side streets and continue until you reach a T-junction at the church. Turn right towards Andelu. At the next crossroads, Place de la Mairie, take the second left onto Rue de l'Étoile. Further on, climb a few steps on the left to enter the cemetery and see Bourvil's grave. Exit through a large gate and turn left onto Rue de l'Étoile (cemetery on your left). Ignore a street on the right.
(4) At the crossroads, turn right towards the school and then pass a turning on the left. In the next bend, follow thePR®® on the right, Chemin de la Fontaine de l'Orme.
(5) When you reach the edge of a small wood, ignore the wide path on the left (there is a yellow cross on a tree on your right). Make a quick first turn right then left to stay on thePR®® through the woods. At the T-junction that follows, make another first turn right then left.
(6) At another T-junction, turn left with thePR®® and then, a little further on, take a sharp right turn. Continue straight ahead.
(7) Further on, at the T-junction (there is a small vineyard here), leave thePR®® and go down to the left and then to the right onto Chemin de l'Aitre. At the next junction, turn right.
(8) Turn left down the first street you come to, then left again after number 8, onto Ruelle des Jardins. Turn left, then ignore Rue de Maule and Rue du Moulin on your left.
(9) Cross Avenue de la Gare. Walk past the church and turn left onto Place du 8 mai 45. Walk past the castle on your left and then the post office on your right. Cross a car park to the right and cross the Mauldre river, then turn right at the level crossing, then right and immediately left.
(10) At the next crossroads, turn left and cross the road. Continue straight ahead until you reach Rue de Lifosse in the hamlet of La Maladrerie.
(11) At the end of the street, turn left and then immediately right onto Rue de la Vallée. At the crossroads, continue straight ahead on thePR®® and walk alongside a stud farm. At the next fork, go straight ahead until you reach a crossroads.
(12) Leave thePR®® and turn left. At the next crossroads, before the D307, turn left.
(13) At the corner of a residential area, take a path on the left (there is a sign prohibiting access to motor vehicles). Further on, cross a street, first turning right then left to take a footpath. Go down some steps and continue straight ahead through a copse until you reach a street.
(14) Cross at the pedestrian crossing. Go up to the right for a few metres (there are road signs) and go down to the left. Continue to the right, ignoring all the small paths on the side, until you reach a bench in a small meadow. Continue to a staircase and go down to the left.
(15) At a three-way junction, cross over and take a footpath. Cross a street. Follow a new path that turns left and leads to a street, which you follow straight ahead. Leave Allée de la Bannière on your left. Cross another street and walk through a small shopping centre opposite. Go down some steps. Turn left and then quickly right onto a small path. At the bottom, turn right to return to the station (S/E).
