Description of the walk

Start from the car park at the school in Lainville-en-Vexin, Rue du Vexin.

(S/E) On leaving the car park, cross the road at the pedestrian crossing opposite the school. Go round the school on the right (small gate), heading up through the public garden to arrive opposite the town hall. Turn right (Rue de la Mairie), walking alongside the church. Head downhill to the right following the PR® (Rue aux Canes), then cross the D205 and continue straight ahead for a few metres.

(1) Turn immediately right onto Chemin de la Côte Duché. Further on, cross a junction of paths to quickly reach another crossroads.

(2) Follow the small path through the woods to the left (PR® 41). You’ll come out onto a wide path; continue to the right until the end of Chemin des Châtaigniers.

(3) Opposite No. 9Bis, turn right (Route des Bonnes Joies), walk along Place des Bonnes Joies and continue along the street.

(4) Just before the sign marking the exit from the hamlet, turn left onto Chemin de Maigremont, walk for about 700 m and you will arrive almost at the edge of the woods.

(5) Leave the PR® and turn right (look for a Yellow Cross on a metal post). Continue to a crossroads, at the corner of a sports ground.

(6) Turn left onto Rue des Champs, then continue along a path until you reach a crossroads.

(7) Continue straight on until you reach a road. Take it to the left with care and continue for approximately 250 m.

(8) Just before the sign marking the entrance to the hamlet of Damply, turn left onto Chemin de la Croix Damply and follow the path, which curves to the right further on.

(9) At the crossroads, turn left and continue until you reach the tarmac.

(10) Turn right into a cul-de-sac, Sente de la Croix Farout. Continue along a grassy path, then along a narrow track, and at the end of this, turn left. Further on, follow Rue Mégrimont to the right. Cross the D205 opposite the town hall and take Rue de l’Église to the left of it.

(11) Just before No. 7, turn left onto a small path that runs alongside the Ruisseau de la Bernon. Cross a small bridge and continue left to reach a tarmac path.

(12) Turn left (Sente de la Bernon) and at the T-junction, take a short detour to the left to see the Source de la Bernon. On your return, head up the road opposite to the next junction.

(13) Turn left to reach Lainville. Ignore the path on the right and continue along the tarmac.

(14) Turn left straight away onto Rue des Saules. At the roundabout, continue straight ahead and at the end, turn left (Chemin des Menues Terres). Just after No. 12, turn right onto Sente de la Vallée, which is grassy at the start and then tarmac fromNo. 1Bis onwards.

(15) At the end of this, turn right (Rue aux Canes), which bends left at the next junction. Ignore two streets on the left and, at the corner ofNo. 31Bis, turn immediately left onto Chemin des Mares. Carry on until you reach a cross-road.

(16) Opposite the wash house, turn left (Chemin de la Mare aux Bois), continue along the tarmac road and you will reach the next junction. Turn left (Rue du Vexin) and continue to Place de la Liberté. Turn left for a few metres to discover, from the entrance to Impasse Crussol, the porch of the old castle. Return to the street and continue left to quickly reach the car park of the school in Lainville-en-Vexin (S/E).
