Croix Cartier
La Croix Cartier is a very pleasant hike for families, offering magnificent 360° views.
Le Treu, Croix de Stata and Croix Cartier in a loop
A wide loop around the hamlet of Chaucisse, allowing you to visit three summits by combining routes that can each be done as a shorter hike. The views along the way are magnificent, with the Aravis, Beaufortain and Mont Blanc in front of us.
Double loop of Mont Clocher from Hauteluce
A classic summit in the area, but with an unusual starting point. Beautiful view of part of the Les Saisies ski area. 360° panorama at Mont Clocher, and you can even catch a glimpse of the Roselend dam.
Lac du Mont Charvin
An out and return walk to Lac du Mont Charvin. Passing through woodland, then pasture before entering the higher and more rocky terrain. Great views Mont Blanc from the ridge above the lake.
The tour of Lac du Mont Charvin
This hike will introduce you to the flora and fauna of the Alps. Depending on the time of year, you can meet the inhabitants of these mountains and taste their delicious cheeses.
Montagne d'Outray
A superb hike offering magnificent scenery. Mont Blanc is omnipresent! The view of the Beaufortain and its dams is also worth the detour.
Summit of Orsiere from la Gutary
This circular walk will take you through the steep-sided wooded valley beneath the Aiguille de Manigod. It then brings you up into pastures before making the steep ascent to Sur le Freu and the more gentle ascent to the top of Orsiere via la Riondaz. The descent takes you back through pastures before heading back down through the forest to the start. Great views towards Manigod and the mountains behind Annecy, Mont Charvin.
Pointe d'Orsière loop via the Passage du Freu from Gutary
From the hamlet of La Gutary in Manigod, I suggest a beautiful loop trail on one of the foothills of the Aravis massif. The route starts with a climb up the Fier valley with a few steep sections, then joins the Passage du Freu, which requires a little care. It then continues through alpine pastures, passing the Pointe d'Orsière.
Circuit in the Aravis through the Blanchet pastures
A beautiful hike on the Savoyard side of the Aravis, with pastures, streams, sun-baked wooden chalets and Mont Blanc sparkling in the sun.
Yellow markings and directional signs.
La Roche Parstire
This circuit in the Beaufortain offers abundant panoramic views, first of the Arêches valley, then of the heart of the Beaufortain. On the ridge path, let the Mont Blanc guide you.
The ridge of Lake Roselend via Roche Parstire
A lovely walk on an accessible ridge, surrounded by flowers and with fantastic views of Lake Roselend and the snow-capped peaks.
Lac Tournant
This is a circular walk based on trail 5 as promoted by the Arêches tourist board. It is well marked with yellow signs and paint flashes or markers for trail 5. There are good views over to Mont Blanc, the Beaufortain Mountains and the lake, although small, is a nice place to eat your sandwiches.
Tete du Cuvy
This is a circular walk based on trails 5 and 8 as promoted by the Arêches tourist board. For the most part it is well marked with yellow signs and paint flashes or markers for trail 5 & 8. There are good views over to Mont Blanc and of the Beaufortain Mountains.

Croix des Frettes and Croix de Fer
This balcony route offers beautiful views of the Aravis mountain range, La Giettaz and the Arrondine valley, all facing Mont Blanc.
Loop at the Lac de la Girotte dam
This is an easy loop walk that allows you to see up close a major feature of the landscape at this end of the Beaufortain. Of industrial and historical interest (the construction of the dam is closely linked to the resistance movements in the area).
La Montagne du Sulens
Un itinéraire assez facile, mais qui offre une jolie vue arrivé au sommet, avec une table d'orientation.
The Curé passage
Lake Gittaz and the Curé passage.
Croisse Baulet loop from Le Plan
A beautiful loop to a little-known peak between Aravis and Beaufortain, particularly scenic. The climb is steep but the return loop via the little Croisse Baulet is enchanting, like a balcony with exceptional views of the Mont Blanc massif. It can get a little crowded on the way back as it can be reached in an hour from the Jaillet cable car.
Petit and Grand Croisse-Baulet
A varied itinerary on fairly gentle slopes, with exceptional views from the ridges. The Croisse Baulet is mainly used by ski tourers, while the Petit Croisse Baulet is accessible from several sides, both on snowshoes and skis: the proposed loop starts at Le Plan, in La Giettaz.
Loop to Le Grand Mont
In the heart of the Beaufortain massif, a beautiful summit offering a wide and distant panorama.Although not difficult, the final climb to reach the Grand Mont requires a minimum of attention to find your way. (!) 4 August 2025: user report: > However, I would like to point out that the western shore of Lac de St Guerin is closed to hikers by municipal decree due to the risk of rockfalls. The hike must therefore start and end on the eastern shore of the lake.
The Fairy Lake
A beautiful family hike that combines green mountain slopes with water flowing in small streams and waterfalls. At the end of the hike, there is a small lake with crystal clear water.
The Storm Lakes
A beautiful walk with several stream crossings. But beware of snow at the beginning of the season.
The Croix du Colomban from the Col de la Croix Fry
A very beautiful hike on snowshoes which takes you through completely wild areas covered in pure white snow.
Pointe de Beauregard and Croix de Colomban
This hike offers several different views of the mountains. The climb is gradual and takes you through alpine pastures. The descent is mainly through forest. There are some beautiful views, particularly of the Aravis mountain range, Mont Blanc and La Tournette.
Aiguille des Calvaires and Combe de Borderan
A great pointy summit with a cross on top and good views followed by a descent of Borderan Combe. This could easily be done in reverse and/or without the use of the cable cars.
Short tour around Lake Roselend
You've seen some of it on foot, by bike, motorbike or car. If you're a keen walker, here's your chance to discover Lake Roselend, its dam and the alpine chalets that line its shores from different angles on an easy walk along a route that follows the lake's banks, with an elevation gain of around 400 metres. You will cross numerous streams via wooden footbridges before finally crossing the dam.
Col du Coin - Lac d'Amour
A beautiful hike in the heart of the Beaufortain, near the Roselend dam lake.
Tour of the Val de Tamié
The Val de Tamié site is remarkable for its Cistercian abbey nestled on the side of Tête Noire and its former military fort. The hike takes place in the valley. It starts from the abbey car park, with a steep climb, a walk downhill through the woods, a visit to the Fort de Tamié, a magnificent view of Mont Blanc at the Collet de Tamié, then the descent to the Moulin de Tamié.
La Clusaz - Village tour
Short, easy route to discover the beautiful village of La Clusaz from different perspectives.
Follow the signs for the “Tour du Village".
This hike is interesting in both summer and winter. On snowshoes after a good snowfall, on a beautiful sunny day, the forest passages offer opportunities for beautiful photos.
Mont Lachat and Croix de l'Enclume loop from Mont Jean
I suggest a lovely walk in the south-western part of Mont Lachat, taking in a variety of landscapes and some interesting viewpoints in uncrowded areas. Please note that this is a challenging walk with difficult sections off the beaten track and exposed terrain where a misstep could be dangerous (see the practical information section).
