Cool and refreshing! That’s the key phrase to describe this walk. Even during a heatwave! In such conditions, do make sure to tackle the climb in the morning. Roughly 95 per cent of this walk is in the shade. And then there’s that footbridge, about a hundred metres long, spanning the Arly torrent. Not to mention the torrents and numerous waterfalls you’ll come across on your way to the village of Cohennoz, with its very unique eco-museum, which is well worth a visit.

The refuge is ideally located near the Tour du Beaufortain with a beautiful view of Albertville and the Olympic Park. Hike to be done from May to November: avalanche risk in winter above 1,100 metres.
