The Gorges of Stream Rouge

This is a round-trip hike through meadows and woods. The last part descends steeply to the wooden bridge over the Nant Rouge. This section can be quite slippery in wet weather.

⚠️Recommended for experienced hikers due to its dangerous nature (steep and very slippery sections).

Description of the walk

It is fairly easy to park in the church car park, near the cemetery, a little higher up in the village.
The starting point is at the Notre-Dame de Bellecombe tennis courts, opposite the cemetery.

(S/E) With your back to the cemetery, go around the tennis courts on the right and continue between the houses until you reach Route de la Cour.

(1) Turn right and follow the road to the end, at a place called La Cour. Continue along the path to the Y-junction at Les Nantets.

(2) Turn right towards the pine forest. Continue along the path until you reach Nant Rouge, where there is a wooden bridge crossing the river. You have arrived at this beautiful, peaceful spot, where the only sound is that of the river, whose water is incredibly clear.

(3) Retrace your steps to return to the tennis courts and the car park (S/E).

Important information from the Val d'Arly Tourist Office
We strongly advise against this hike for families, especially children under five years old. In some sections, the path is very steep and, depending on weather conditions, can be very dangerous and slippery. This hiking trail is recommended for experienced hikers. Accidents have already occurred on this route, so please be very careful!
