Park in the market car park (note: market every Wednesday morning).
(S/E) Cross the Doron and turn left onto Avenue du Capitaine Bulle. Pass the cooperative and continue for a few dozen metres. Reach the roundabout.
Turn right onto Montée de la Roche. After the last houses, the road becomes a path.
(1) Before the bridge, turn left towards Les Curtillets, taking the path that winds its way up through the forest and leads to a small tarmac road. Turn right onto this road, which descends for about 50 metres. Find the path to Les Curtillets on the left, in front of the stream. This leads to the road.
(2) Turn right, go through two hairpin bends in Le Biolay, then, on the left, follow the grassy path that winds through the meadow and climbs up to Les Curtillets. At the road, turn right and continue for 200 metres.
(3) At the watering hole, take a small road on the left towards Villes Dessus. After the second chalet, turn right onto a small grassy path (a wooden sign indicates: Les Villes, Les plans) which becomes a pretty path overlooking the town of Beaufort. Cross two nants (a mountain term for a small stream or torrent).*
Along the way, in the meadow, ignore the path that descends to Beaufort and continue to the left, still towards Les Villes Dessus. When you reach the road in front of Le Plan, the path crosses this road twice.
When you reach this roadfor the third time, in front of the Alpagas farm, turn right and continue for 500 metres. The Route des Villes leads to a place called Les Villes Dessus.
(4) A few dozen metres after the sign for the locality, turn right onto a path towards Balestet, Beaufort. This path winds its way through the pine forest to Balestet (be careful, the path is close to the cliff for a few metres... take care if you have boisterous children...) before descending steeply through the forest. Continue downhill until you reach the D70 road.
(5) Follow this road for a few hundred metres, then, after a bend, take the path on the right towards Beaufort. Cross the stream and look for a mule track on the right that leads into town. Take Ruelle des Pénitents, which runs parallel to the main road. At the second-to-last house, you can admire an old outdoor stone sink used to drain waste water. Then turn left, then right to reach the car park on the other side of the Doron (S/E).
