From Albertville station to the Refuge du Soplat des Streams

Departure from Albertville SNCF train station.

(S) Follow Avenue Jean Jaurès opposite the station. Cross Avenue des Chasseurs Alpins, then cross the Pont du Mirantin bridge over the Arly river.

(1) Continue left along the footpath along the banks of the Arly, take the road on the right at Collège Pierre Grange and join Avenue de Tarentaise. Turn left and you will soon come to the yellow hiking sign for "Collège Pierre Grange".

(2) Follow the path uphill to the right, pass by the Château de Manuel and reach the entrance to the medieval town of Conflans.

(3) Enter the town through the Porte de Savoie gate and pass under the Church of Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption. Cross the Place de Conflans and pass the Museum of Art and History.

(4) Before reaching the Porte Tarine, turn left onto the road leading to the sign for "Sous le château". Then follow the signs for Farette on the right, passing below the Château Rouge along an easy path, and reach the crossroads marked by the sign for "Coteaux de Farette".

(5) Continue to the right along the uphill track and arrive at Farette: directional signpost.

(6) Turn right towards Les Garzons and join the Route de Champ Facholaz: signposted "Les Garzons".

(7) Turn right, then immediately keep left, staying on Route de Champ Facholaz. Then take the path on the left marked in yellow and continue to Le Bettex: signpost.

(8) Make a short left-right turn to take the path leading to Champ Facholaz.

(9) Follow the path opposite towards Mont and arrive at the hamlet.

(10) At the road, turn right towards Champ Blaire - Roche étroite, and arrive at the Champ Blaire chalet with a breathtaking view of the Tarentaise Valley. Continue on and reach the Roche Étroite crossroads.

(11) Follow the path marked in yellow uphill, pass by the cross, and join the track at Les Déberts du Bas, near a chalet.

(12) Continue left along the track, ignore the track on the left and continue straight ahead, passing a yellow barrier and arriving at the track junction.

(13) Keep going in the same direction until you reach the Gros Fayard junction: signpost.

(14) Turn right towards Rouelon - Le Soplat des Nants along the slightly downhill track and you will reach a hairpin bend.

(15) Turn left and follow the slightly uphill track towards Le Soplat des Streams until you reach the end.

(16) Take the path straight ahead (directional signpost).Cross the wooden footbridge, then cross four streams and arrive at the large stream, recognisable by its protective wall. Cross it and follow the descending track for about a hundred metres to reach a crossroads marked by a wooden signpost.

(17) Turn left and follow the path uphill towards Soplat des Streams and, after a steady climb, reach the refuge (E).

The refuge is accessible with authorisation from the Tours-en-Savoie town hall: they will give you the code to retrieve the keys from the key box at the refuge. The town hall's telephone number is +33 (0)4 79 31 00 73. There are 16 mattresses available for sleeping.
