To get to the start, go up to Marthod from Albertville via Allondaz or Ugine; go above the main town either via the CD63a or the CD103 to reach Les Planches and the road that goes up to Le Raffort.
(S/E) From the Raffort car park, take the path on the left which descends slightly for 200 metres through wooded area. At the edge, take the path on the right which goes around farmland, crosses two streams on the hillside or uphill and enters the Creux du Cayon, a wide valley which the path climbs, often in hairpin bends, to the Col de la Sellive (1721m).
(1) At the pass, where the views open up to the south, turn right onto the ridge. Do not follow the first well-marked path that heads southwest but quickly stops climbing and even descends towards Pointe de Cruessajran. Continue climbing the ridge of the pass a little further to take the paths (rather than a well-marked trail) that climb more steeply across the grassy slope above the previous one, towards the ridge coming from Belle Etoile. This path heads towards Les Frêtes then turns right to resume the direction of Dent de Cons, climbing steep slopes.
When you approach the ridge (at an altitude of 1970 metres), rather than continuing straight on towards the Dent along the poorly marked path on the rather broken slope, you can use the paths that take advantage of the terrain to reach the ridge more directly at the edge of the 2023-metre pass. From there, turn right onto the wide, pleasant summit ridge at this point and continue to the clearly visible summit.
(2) After enjoying the view and the orientation table, begin the descent by following the narrow ridge northwards (actually north-northeast). Descend a few exposed bumps and then continue downhill as close as possible to the ridge of Rocher Prani, a small rocky passage that is easy to descend, sometimes using your hands on the rock. The descent of the ridge continues, less exposed, with tight turns, then more straight when you re-enter the forest. At one point, walk along the bare slabs on your left.
(3) At the various intersections, avoid turning left onto the Cons-Sainte-Colombe slope, but veer right at the bottom for wide turns in the forest, at the end of which you will overlook the Alpettaz mountain pasture, which you will reach at its far end.
(4) At the crossroads serving Alpettaz and Les Batteries, turn sharply right: a good path leads back to Le Raffort and the car park (S/E).

But definitely a hike to do again!
