This hike goes around Lake Gérardmer, the largest natural lake in the Vosges, via the Tête de Mérelle, which offers a magnificent view of the lake and the town of Gérardmer from its belvedere at the top of the tower, then past the small Mérelle Waterfall, hidden among moss-covered rocks.

This hike goes around Lake Gérardmer, the largest natural lake in the Vosges. Covering an area of 115 hectares, it is surrounded by forests and lies at the foot of the town of Gérardmer, known for its ski resort and also for its many water sports attractions.

After starting in a wood, we very quickly arrive at a path in the undergrowth, running alongside the Ruisseau du Phény stream, which is one with the path, except for numerous passages over small stone bridges. It leads us to the Saut de la Bourrique. A few more hundred metres of climbing and, after passing Urson, we arrive at a wide path that leads us to the Col du Haut de la Côte. There is a section of uphill road, then the descent begins, with some sections more challenging than others. Before returning to the starting point, there is a magnificent viewpoint at La Roche du Renard.

This easy route invites you to discover Le Tholy from different angles. This loop, which is fully marked with green rings and red crosses, follows small roads, forest tracks and footpaths. Suitable for pushchairs, the aim of this walk is also to discover the village's wayside crosses.

Saut de la Bourrique is a waterfall in the Vosges mountains in the commune of Gérardmer. The legend associated with the name of this waterfall actually comes from a bourrique that belonged to a lord. Returning from the crusades, he was attacked by bandits, and to protect him the animal threw itself on them at the foot of the waterfall, where it perished with the miscreants. 28/05/2024: Hiking not possible at present: Sentier du saut de la bourrique closed from (1) to (2) by municipal by-law since 15 March 2024 for works. A magnificent route with a variety of landscapes. You will be charmed by the walk along the shores of the largest natural lake in the Vosges. After a detour through the forest and pastures that border the southern shore of the lake, you will enjoy the natural beauty of the Saut de la Bourrique site. Following the Ruisseau du Phény stream and its remarkable little bridges, you will return to the lake shore to complete this circular path.

In the middle of a dense pine forest, huge granite boulders are piled up to a depth of 7 to 8 metres over a length of 400 metres and a width of 40 metres. The Barbey-Seroux Rock Field remains a mystery to scientists. A one-kilometre marked nature trail allows visitors to explore this astonishing rock chaos. An easy and pleasant walk suitable for young children.

This walk provides quick access to a beautiful viewpoint at the summit of Spiémont, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Vosges and the Vologne valley. The presence of a geodesic chimney and an orientation table complete the hike.

The hike begins at the Spiémont geodesic chimney with its orientation table, then takes you to discover "sacrificial stones" with magnificent cup marks that are said to have been used in ancient rituals. The route then heads to Laleu Colline (Colline au Loup), a small hill with a rocky summit which offers panoramic views of the Middle Vosges from its footbridge. On the way back, the route passes through the Bouyère peat bog before reaching the village of Champdray.

A lovely circular route that takes you around the centre of Gérardmer, the Xettes hillside and part of the lake circuit.

Set off to explore a small cavity in the rock, called the Chambre du Loup (Wolf's Chamber), at the foot of the small Lyris cliff, the Pyramid, and various other features on this site, which was used for the construction of the church and presbytery of the hamlet of Haut-du-Tôt. All this can be explored via a somewhat mystical path through a magnificent coniferous forest with moss-covered rocks.

An easy hike that passes by two pretty waterfalls, with trails through the woods and the Vosges countryside. The route follows the typical Club Vosgien signage, which may seem a little complex and confusing at first but, with a little practice, proves to be particularly effective, provided you have an IGN map to refer to.

A lovely winter snowshoe hike, a circular route around the Mauselaine ski area, above Gérardmer. Perfectly signposted with numbers (in our case, follow No. 1), with yellow signs and arrows to indicate the direction.

A few viewpoints and the discovery of a geological curiosity. A variant without the climb to the Tête de Nayemont reduces the route to 13 km and 240 m of elevation gain (see description). Important: following comments received, the route of this hike has been modified to avoid paths that have disappeared into the vegetation. This hike includes a paved section at the beginning and end of the route, as well as a few forest roads that cannot be avoided.

This is a circular in the Gérardmer region. Overall, this hike is easy, but there is a fairly steep climb at the start of the route and a much more challenging section in the Gorge des Roitelets.Most of the route is through forest, which can be pleasant in hot weather. In wet weather, be careful as the rocks can be slippery.

First stage of the Gérardmer Mini-Trek. On this first day, you will discover the aerial landscapes of Le Poli and the heights of Lispach, as well as the isolated stubble fields above the Vologne Valley. This stage allows you to make steady progress towards the Chalet des Champis, where you will spend the night. It is also an opportunity to spend a night in an unguarded cabin that has (almost) everything to please: isolated and at least a 30-minute walk from any built-up area, in the middle of the thatched cottages, accessible to all and all year round...It is a must-see in the area.

The Gérardmer region offers a wealth of hiking opportunities. This route starts from the Saut des Cuves, one of the best-known natural sites in the Gérardmer region, apart from the lakes. The hike passes various viewpoints, including La Roche des Bruyères, La Roche du Corbeau, La Roche du Chien and La Roche du Page. It follows the beautiful Gorges des Roitelets and passes near the Chapelle Sainte-Anne in Martimpré. The route consists of three major climbs, each with an elevation gain of between 200 and 300 metres.

A long, challenging hike that takes you around a well-known town in the Vosges: Gérardmer. Nestled at an altitude of around 600 m, the town is home to the largest lake in the Vosges: Lake Gérardmer. It is also possible to take detours to explore the natural scenery. This hike offers a feast of rivers and waterfalls: the Saut des Cuves, the Saut de la Bourrique, the Cascade de Mérelle and other watercourses of varying sizes. It also passes close to several ski resorts, particularly during the first part of the circular route. Mainly through forest, there are also some rather pleasant views when the weather permits. In winter, the track between points (6) and (7) is used as a ski run. It is better to take the track going up to the left at (6) and then the road to the right leading to point (9). Point (13) Saut de la Bourrique has been closed by municipal order since 15 March 2024 for works; see practical information.

“Les Perles de Vologne” is a wonderful site on the shaded bank of the Vologne. You will pass on Pont des Fées and the Marie-Louise islands, before climbing along the torrent in the Roitelets Gorge, to reach the Roche des Bruyères from where you can admire the town of Gerardmer and its lake. Then, at the Gilet Fountain, located in the forest, you can refresh your hands. Take a break at the Belbriette Pond before descending to Longemer Lake and the Saint Florent chapel.

A short hike without too much difficulty, with some steep climbs and descents at times, but easily managed by amateur hikers like us. Beautiful views at the start over the town and Lake Gérardmer, as well as from the Tête du Grouvelin orientation point: a 360° view of the Vosges mountains and, on a clear day, a view of the Swiss Alps. A little surprise at La Chaume Francis, where paragliders were practising on the training slope.

A family walk a few kilometres from Bruyères or Gérardmer, without any great difficulty. This walk, starting from the town hall in Jussarupt, takes you through beautiful forests and the charming village.

Both accessible and mountainous, this hike in the heart of the Croix Claudé ski area takes you along pleasant trails and offers two beautiful, remarkable views of the Vosges Mountains.

A circular route, mostly along shaded forest paths, which will take you to two major points of interest: halfway along the route, the surprising site of the old Plaines quarry and its magnificent view over the Tholy Valley, and at the end of the route, Chèvre Roche and its sweeping panoramic view over Vagney and the Moselotte Valley.

There are numerous waterfalls on the slopes of the Vosges mountains. These include the Saut du Bouchot and the Saut de la Bourrique. These two waterfalls can be visited on a long walk, which is shown here. There are many advantages to this route, with unique views at Moyemont and Rocher des Ducs, but there is also cultural interest with a passage at Falaise de Lyris. A large part of the hike is through forest.

The Gerbamont region offers several routes and remarkable sites. One of these is the Saut du Bouchot and its twin waterfalls. This circular route leads to the Roches Saint-Jacques at an altitude of 1,000 metres. The ascent takes place entirely within woodland. The descent offers better views thanks to a more open route.

This part of the Vosges is less well known than the area of the high peaks. However, a few peaks rise above 1,000 m, including the Haut du Roc and the Piquante Pierre. This walk offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding area, stretching as far as the Ballon d’Alsace and the Ballon de Servance. Starting from the Saut du Bouchot, which offers a refreshing break, the climb is steady all the way to the Piquante Pierre. The section leading to the Haut du Roc involves a long descent before climbing again. Finally, for the rest of the route, it is simply a series of ascents and descents, although the path descends much more than it climbs.

The Cascade de la Pissoire waterfall is one of the best known in the Vosges. It can be accessed from Haut du Tot. You can round off your visit by exploring the surrounding peaks, such as Moyemont and Chèvre Roche, both of which offer remarkable panoramic views of the region. The first part of the route is uphill to Chèvre Roche, passing by the Fontaine Baptistminicandré fountain. After Chèvre Roche, the route winds its way up to Moyemont, passing by the Giant Fir Tree, the Lambia Cross, the Pissoire Waterfall and the village of Haut du Tot. The final part of the hike takes you to the Balcons de la Hazelle and the Étang des Sangsues.

The Champ de Roches is located in the municipality of Barbey-Seroux, near the Col des Arrentès between the Neuné and Vologne valleys. This "river" of rocks stretches between conifer plantations for 400 metres long and 40 metres wide. The existence of such chaos is surprising and has given rise to numerous legends in which the presence of the Devil is never far away.Although most of this hike takes place on forest trails and paths, the relatively long but easy loop includes a few stretches of road that allow you to discover the town of Corcieux at the start and finish, as well as the charming hamlets in the surrounding area. There are beautiful, idyllic landscapes throughout this circuit.

In a little-known part of the Vosges mountains, you can take in views of the Bouchot valley over a relatively short distance, thanks to the three viewing points, two of which are fully secured. The paths are shaded and well maintained by the Club Vosgien.

Overlooking the upper Moselotte valley, you will discover the secrets of the high-altitude peat bogs nestled in the Rondfaing fir forests. The return trail, which runs along a balcony, offers superb views all the way to the end, especially in autumn. This is a very easy hike, accessible to all, including children.

A beautiful hike to the small pass of Collet de l'Étang on wide roads and forest paths through magnificent woodland. Beautiful views of La Montée Impossible de La Bresse and on arrival at La Roche Beuty. The climb is long but the short break at the Chalet du Collet de l'Étang is very pleasant. Viewpoint at Champis, before the descent into the Chajoux valley.

A beautiful getaway in the heights of Bresse and the Chajoux Valley. Superb panoramic views, especially at Les Champis. Lake Lispach, the beautiful Rouge Feigne peat bog, and Grouvelin are the highlights, but every turn in the trails and paths will make you love this picturesque region of the Hautes-Vosges even more.

From La Bresse (centre), this is an easy 6-hour hike around the beautiful Hautes-Vosges valley.

An easy and very pleasant walk along trails offering magnificent panoramic views throughout. At the summit of the Piquante Pierre, at an altitude of 1,008 metres, there is a magnificent view of part of the Vosges foothills and the lower Moselotte valley, as well as the surrounding high mountains. The descent takes you through the picturesque Plateaux valley, where the views are once again stunning. One last viewpoint and you will reach the Col du Haut de Fouchure, enchanted by the scenery.

From Vagney to La Piquante Pierre, a key site of the Resistance, and Les Roches Saint-Jacques with its pudding.

This magnificent circular hike starting from La Bresse will allow you to discover an infinite variety of landscapes: Lac des Corbeaux, Étang de Sèchemer, Col de la Vierge, the Roche du Lac viewpoint (after two mountain huts) to reach Col du Brabant and its ski area, and finally head back to La Bresse via a splendid route through the Planot-Paris Arboretum. Classified as difficult solely due to its length: 22 km.

This circular trail is one of three textile trails offered by the tourist office (on a relatively rough map).

This hike will appeal to forest lovers. It passes through a variety of forests: young and old, deciduous and coniferous, dense and sparse. Depending on the time of day or the season, you will be accompanied by birdsong.

This walk is accessible to all, alternating between paved roads and forest trails.

Lac des Corbeaux is a beautiful little mountain lake that attracts many visitors, especially in summer. It is very easy to walk around with the family in an idyllic setting. At the start, the Haut des Bluches campsite also offers superb tree house rentals. A giant zip line also passes right over our heads. In short, it's not to be missed.

A peaceful walk around a 10-hectare glacial lake surrounded by forest, along a path accessible to pushchairs. Lac des Corbeaux, with its reflections, brings a pleasant feeling of tranquillity and calm, allowing you to savour the moment.
