Leave your vehicle about a hundred metres after the Calvary at a place called Le Haut Roulier, at the entrance to the forest at the start of the Route de la Tête des Sots.
Important: do not park on the private property where the calvary is located. Take the gravel path to the edge of the forest. There you will be in the shade and will not be subject to comments from the owner.
(S/E) Take the path heading south towards the forest.
(1) At the first fork, after 60 metres, keep to the right. Continue along the forest path for 500 metres until you reach a logging area.
(2) Take the path on the right uphill for 300 metres.
(3) Keep left, leaving the main path on the right, which will be our return route.
Do not leave this path until you reach the forest road on your left. There you will find a shelter.
(4) Turn right onto the path marked with a blue sign. A few hundred metres further on, you will arrive at the St Augustin fountain, where you can refresh yourself.
Continue on your way to the Col du Singe.
(5) Ignoring several paths on your right, you can descend on your left to reach the Fontaine des Carriers, then return to continue the climb to a calvary about 250 m away (elevation 728).
(6) Turn right and continue for about 1 km.
(7) Turn right. Be careful, as this path is not used very often and may be hidden by vegetation in summer. Continue for 700 metres.
(8) At a crossroads, turn right onto the forest road that goes around the Étang de l'Abîme, which is nothing more than a peat bog.
On this forest road, keep to the right at the junction 1.7 km away and continue straight ahead until you reach the tarmac road.
(9) Turn right onto the forest road that will take you back to the logging site and continue on your way to the Calvary, the end of your hike (S/E).
