The start of this hike is at the Lac de Gérardmer car park near the Après Ski restaurant.
(S/E) From the car park, cross the Route d'Épinal and head towards the lake shore. Start the tour of the lake in a clockwise direction. Follow the bank as close to the lake as possible. Pass in front of the Casino and the Congress Centre, take the footbridge over the water sports centre, pass the Aquanautics car park and face the Roche du Lac.
No markings
(1) Cross the road at the pedestrian crossing and head to the right of the Roche du Lac. Take the small path between the rock and the "Toilettes" hut. Continue through the undergrowth after the Roche du Lac, cross a path on your right and watch out for the next intersection on your left.
(2) Turn left and you will soon reach Route de la Bresse.

(3) Carefully take the road to the left for about thirty metres, towards the lake. Cross the road and follow a path heading south into the woods. You will arrive at a clearing.
(4) Turn right onto a fairly steep path.

(5) Turn right again onto a path through the rocks and you will reach a place called La Roche du Renard.
(6) Stay on the track until you cross Route de la Bresse again.

(7) Cross the D486 with caution. Heading south, take the Chemin de la Grange Passée and join the Chemin de la Goutte des Sats, which bends and heads west. Look for a path that branches off to the left.

(8) Turn left and take the Urson forest track. Walk to the hamlet of Urson. Continue along this track, following the signs for "Col de Sapois". Pass a private pond and continue to the Col de Sapois.

(9) Turn right and head north on the Chemin de Sapois until you reach the junction with the old Chemin du Phény.

(10) Turn right just after a property and follow the signs for "Saut de la Bourrique". Cross the Ruisseau du Phény stream. Turn left at Grange Mougeon. Descend towards the Ruisseau du Phény stream and the waterfall known as Saut de la Bourrique.

(11) Walk along the Ruisseau du Phény, crossing it several times via pretty little stone bridges. At the houses, find the Chemin de Sapois and follow it to a riding centre.
(12) Turn left, walk alongside the riding schools and cross the Ruisseau de Phény stream again. Stay on the left bank and cross back over to the other bank at the car parks near the lake. Cross the car parks to rejoin the Tour du Lac trail.

(13) Turn left. Gradually approach the lake and rejoin the lakeside path, crossing a few rough sections at Roches Noires. Return to the Lido.
(14) Continue as close to the shore as possible to finish on a path parallel to the Route d'Épinal until you reach the starting car park (S/E).
