Starting point at the junction of Chemin des Champis and Chemin du Tremplin. There is only space for two cars. Therefore, if there is no space, you must park further down at Pont des Champis and start the walk from there. (Please note, the restaurant car park is private.)
(S/E) Head up Chemin des Champis, following the small tarmac road (marked with Yellow Diamonds).
(1) At the third hairpin bend, leave the Chemin Jean-Claude Abel on your right and continue straight ahead, then take the next path on the right towards the Étang de la Cuve (marked with a Yellow Triangle). Look out for a small, unmarked path on the right leading to a pond.
(2) Take this small path on the right, which leads to Étang de la Cuve, and enjoy the beautiful view of the pond. Return to the junction or walk along the pond for a short while to rejoin the path, climbing the embankment on the left (route). Follow the path to Small Pass de l'Étang.
(3) Turn left and discover the chalet.
(4) After a short break, if you wish, continue to the left of the chalet along the Chemin de la Piquancoire. Pass a fountain on the left and arrive at a junction.
(5) Continue straight on along the Chemin des Champis (Yellow Diamond), which descends. Keep going straight towards Les Champis, which you will come across when you reach a lovely, rounded hilltop. Continue along the path opposite until you reach the chalet.
(6) Just opposite the chalet, turn right and cross the pasture, climbing to the top, then descend slightly to the right towards the magnificent viewpoint. This pasture is grazing land, so please respect it by following the markings in place; these may change, but in that case, follow the signs for the “viewpoint”.
(7) Continue along the path, keeping the Vologne valley on your left, and take the Chemin du Conservateur (marked with a Green Rectangle and VTT13), which takes you back, through a wood, to the Chalet du Collet de l'Étang.
(4) Continue towards the junction where you arrived on the way up.
(3) This time, head straight ahead along the path marked with a Green Rectangle, towards Pré Jacquot.
(8) At the bottom of the meadow, head left down towards Moyenmont , but first, you can test the echo at Pré Jacquot by shouting loudly at the spot indicated by the sign (on the right as you reach the bottom of the path).
(9) At the hairpin bend, where there is a bench, turn right and head down Chemin du Tremplin, which will take you back to the car park (S/E).
