Come and explore the Beune Valley along shaded paths, where you can admire the restoration of heritage features from a bygone era: shepherds’ huts, fountains and wash houses. You will also spot several mills which, unfortunately, are inaccessible as they are on private property.

During this hike, you will discover a hilly, wooded area dotted with hamlets that bear witness to a rich farming history. The forest, composed of oak, hornbeam and chestnut trees, offers a rich palette of colours. Here and there, small islands of meadow add to this mosaic.

Put yourself in the shoes of the Lord of Lasserre and visit his lands between the dairy farm of Pech Mortier and the ruins of the mill on the banks of the Beune, passing by the castle. The return trip is via Marcillac, between fields and forests.

This walk will allow you to discover a peaceful and charming village, a little away from the major tourist sites. The village of Marcillac will enchant you with its old houses with blonde stone walls and slate roofs clustered around its small church.

The aim of this hike is to see a 13th-century chapel, admire an 18th-century château (Château du Roch), explore a group of dry stone huts (Cabanes du Breuil) and visit a magnificent, beautifully furnished château (Château de Puymartin), all along a walking route that takes you along forest paths and small country roads. A very pretty, easy walk that allows you to discover some of the treasures of the Périgord Noir.

Here we will highlight some of the points of interest along this Small Heritage Trail.

Starting from Tursac, this circular route winds its way through woodland and open countryside, offering beautiful views of the Vézère gorge. The route also offers a panoramic view of the troglodyte village of La Madeleine, clinging to the cliff, before returning to the pleasant shade of the woods. Along the way, pretty chestnut trees punctuate the walk and enhance the peaceful charm of this typical Périgord Noir route.

This circular offers a rural walk through green countryside between meadows and walnut groves. You will pass Moulin de la Borie, Château de la Roussie, along the Enéa river and a myriad of lakes. The stone houses with their slate roofs are full of charm.

You will pass through Coly Saint-Amand, famous for its abbey, as well as the villages of La Chapelle-Aubareil and Valojoulx. Perfect for combining the pleasures of sport with wonder!

This flat route runs alongside the Vézère river and immerses you in a bucolic atmosphere. You will pass through the charming village of Aubas and in front of the Château de Sauvebœuf, adding a touch of heritage to this getaway. Ideal for a family outing or a gentle warm-up.

Moving from sun to shade. The commune of Plazac, home to twenty-five nationalities, remains the land of the “croquants”, peasants from the South-West who rebelled in the 16th and 17th centuries. Nestled in the Périgord Noir, near the Barade Forest, it was also a centre of the Resistance. During your walks, you will come across or catch a glimpse of numerous paths and tracks known as “shortcuts” which, not so long ago, linked the farms together.

They were once used to store tools and to keep the hens in at night. You will notice the abundance and observe the diversity of the vegetation growing in the low walls. Of botanical interest.

This walk traces the history of Saint-Cyprien from the 6th to the 21st century and allows you to visit the upper part of the village, which bears witness to the origins and history of the commune.
