Description of the walk

The village of Sireuil is situated 6 km from Les Eyzies-de-Tayac. Leave the village towards Sarlat on the RD47; after about 5.5 km, take a road on the left towards Sireuil and follow it to the left until you reach the church.

(S/E) From the church, turn right onto Rue du Pech de Belair, towards Le Mas. Continue to the first junction (Route de la Genèbre).

(1) Take this downhill road towards La Genèbre. Carry on past the hamlet. The descent is nearly 700 m. Continue until you reach the signpost and the dirt track on the right.

(2) Take this path through the woods. It winds its way up towards the “Circular Route du Mas” and leads through the woods to the pretty hamlet of La Valade, 250 m further on. Walk through the hamlet and follow the dirt track until you reach the tarmac road 450 m further on.

(3) Turn left, then take the road that winds uphill to the right before the entrance to the campsite (Chemin du Mas). Follow this road, which runs alongside the campsite and then passes between houses, ignoring a path on the right (Impasse du Mas). Continue until you reach the footpath on the left.

(4) Take this path. It soon reaches the road. Walk alongside it for a few metres on the right (Route de Sireuil), then cross over to take the path which continues down into the valley. This lovely dirt track passes through a wood of hornbeams and gradually climbs up to the left. It takes you to the back of the village via Rue du Camp de César. When you reach the tarmac road, head towards the church on the right via Rue du Cordonnier. (S/E)

A pleasant, easy walk that allows you to discover some of the treasures of the Périgord region.
PLEASE NOTE
1 - There is no longer a town hall in Sireuil. It has been converted into a residential building. Use the church as a landmark.
2 - During our "expedition", from point 4 to the road below, the path was overgrown with very tall grass, brambles and nettles. As it had rained shortly before, we were soaked up to our thighs, if not higher. We do not know if this short path is maintained in any way.

A lovely little walk that captures everything that’s great about this area: beautiful meadows (with and without cows!), lovely woodland paths, little hamlets with stunning buildings, and even a little balcony path!
