C'est l'une des plus belles randonnées à faire autour des Eyzies-de-Tayac. Elle permet de profiter de la fraîcheur des sous-bois et offre une vue étonnante sur les falaises des Eyzies.

Often described as the World Capital of Prehistory, the commune of Les Eyzies boasts a significant number of prehistoric sites within a few kilometres. This walk takes you close to these sites and archaeological deposits, allowing you to discover the rich heritage of these places.

The circular Dolmen offers visitors the chance to explore the southern part of the commune of Saint-Chamassy with a short detour to the dolmen known as "Roc del Cayre".

Panoramic view of the Bugue gorge. In the hills above Campagne, this trail will take you past some pretty hamlets with remarkable architectural heritage, where numerous water features are hidden away: fountains, springs and wash houses. Between sunken and wooded paths, an open plateau overlooking the Vézère Valley and small country lanes, the Peyrat circular route also offers one of the few vantage points over the Bugue gorge.

Walk around the village of Journiac. This walk is not particularly difficult. There are just two short climbs along this route, which takes you round various hamlets around the small village of Journiac.

A family walk to explore the little village of Sireuil, perched on the hills above the Beunes valley, and the hamlets and narrow streets of this village, which has retained its charm.

The Tursac ‘Small Heritage Trail’. This circular walk allows you to discover aspects of the heritage of the commune of Tursac. A local association, Evasion Culturelle à Tursac, has carried out research to turn this route into a ‘Small Heritage Trail’. Throughout the walk, the signposts bear the association’s logo. Here we will highlight some of the points of interest along this Small Heritage Trail.

Walk along the hillsides around Le Bugue (good physical fitness required).Le Bugue is a village built on the hillsides of the La Douch valley. It comprises several hamlets with evocative names: Cantegrel (cricket song), La Genèbre (broom). From the hillsides, you’ll enjoy lovely views of the surrounding area.

Over hill and dale.From the full sunshine of the plateaus, you’ll move into the cool shade of the paths through the woodland, which wind down towards the village. The village lies at the foot of a hillside and is bordered by the Vimont, a stream teeming with fish that feeds into the Vézère. As the path is quite hilly, do stop off on the higher ground to take in the view… Your gaze will then wander far into the distance, sweeping over the wooded hills with their many species of trees: chestnut, pine, oak, fir, walnut, juniper and many others.

A lovely walk around the village of Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère, listed as one of the “Most Beautiful Villages in France”, in the heart of the Vallée de l’Homme. A lovely walk to discover the landscapes of the Périgord Noir.

Halfway between Lascaux and Les Eyzies, Saint-Léon lies at the heart of the Vallée de l’Homme. Inhabited since prehistoric times, as evidenced by the remains of dwellings at the Conquil site, Saint-Léon owes its name to one of the first bishops of Périgueux. Situated near a Roman road, this village was, until the advent of the railway, primarily a thriving port on the Vézère, so much so that during the Revolution it was known as Port-Léon. From the cemetery chapel at the eastern entrance to the village, the road leads past Clérans Castle and the Manoir de la Salle to a 12th-century Romanesque church with a slate roof, a key venue for the Périgord Noir Music Festival.

A walk around the “Thot Espace Cro-Magnon”. You’ll leave the village of Thonac and quickly climb 70 metres over a distance of 500 metres. The rest of the route is much less challenging.You’ll make your way through the countryside, passing two viewpoints and two hamlets. You’ll pass close to the “Thot Espace Cro-Magnon”.

A walk through ever-changing scenery. The Posadou circular route, accessible all year round, will delight you with its diverse landscape and varied terrain. You’ll be able to admire, in particular, old buildings and century-old mills with stone roofs, as well as the erosion caused by the sea on the cliffs, now covered by a splendid forest.

You’ll enjoy magnificent views of the Manoir de Costeperrier and the Valojoulx fish reserve, with the forest as a backdrop.

Hills and promontories rise above the Aubas plain and the Vézère valley. A long, easy walk that provides a good illustration of the terrain in the southern part of the commune of Les Farges. It takes you from west to east across the plateau of Cretaceous and then Jurassic limestone, a plateau deeply carved into ridges and promontories by dry valleys leading down to the Vézère.

Walk around the Abbey of Saint-Amand de Coly. Throughout this route, you’ll enjoy beautiful views of the abbey and its ramparts. Dry-stone huts dot the route. They were once used to store tools and to keep the hens in at night. You will notice the abundance and observe the diversity of the vegetation growing in the low walls. Of botanical interest.

From stone to stone, a lovely walk amidst low stone walls and stone huts. A clear view over the Chironde valley. This is a leisurely stroll that immerses us in the recent past and bears witness to the craftsmanship of our ancestors. A delightful route through the heart of the Périgord’s small-scale built heritage.

The slopes of the Chironde valley. A long-distance hike offering the chance to enjoy the varied landscapes of Saint-Amand-de-Coly. Remarkable views dot the route. Sections that are often well shaded provide coolness and comfort.

In the footsteps of the bargemen, this walk follows the old towpath largely along the banks of the Vézère. Throughout the walk, you’ll journey through time: from prehistory right up to the Industrial Revolution. The imposing cliff and the ancient troglodytic fort of La Roque Saint-Christophe are a perfect example of the succession of different civilisations over the centuries.A long route (14.5 km) and a short route (4.6 km) are available.

Moving from sun to shade. The commune of Plazac, home to twenty-five nationalities, remains the land of the “croquants”, peasants from the South-West who rebelled in the 16th and 17th centuries. Nestled in the Périgord Noir, near the Barade Forest, it was also a centre of the Resistance. During your walks, you will come across or catch a glimpse of numerous paths and tracks known as “shortcuts” which, not so long ago, linked the farms together.

Vous passerez à quelques centaines de mètres du site ouvert au public ainsi qu’à proximité du site du Régourdou, autre site préhistorique. Elle se prolonge ensuite sur les hauteurs de Montignac qui surplombent la Vézère.
