From the Rouffignac tourist office, drive towards Thenon on the D31. After 2 km, turn left towards Château de l’Herm. The starting point is in the castle’s visitor car park.
(S/E) From the car park, turn right and walk through the hamlet of l’Herm until you reach a road.
(1) Turn right onto Route de l’Herm, then left into the woods. Walk down into the small valley. Walk back up alongside the meadow until you reach the hamlet of Les Bessèdes. Cross the hamlet to reach the entrance to the path of the same name.
(2) Continue to the right along the Chemin des Bessèdes until you reach the Chemin du Maine.
(3) Turn left, then after about 100 metres take the path on the right. Cross a stream, then head uphill to the crossroads at Balou.
(4) Turn left onto a path called the Voie Royale until you reach the D31.
(5) Take care when crossing the D31. Head straight on along the Chemin de la Faurie, then turn left before the hamlet to return towards the D31. Walk carefully along the right-hand side of the road until you reach the first crossroads.
(6) Take the path on the left through the woodland. At the end of the woodland, go round the field, then head back into the woodland, keeping to the left. Leave the woodland again to reach a junction with a wide service road.
(7) Turn left. Follow this track, then continue straight ahead along the narrow path through the fields until you reach the road. Carry on along the service road again until the next junction (Allée du Château).
(8) Turn left to return to the Château de l’Herm car park (S/E)
