Here is a short route that forms a circular route starting from the Pont de Brion and passing via the Ébron Himalayan Footbridge near Lac de Monteynard-Avignonnet. A proper little hike with spectacular views over the tributary that feeds into the lake.

I suggest a new hike, perfect for a half-day, with a magnificent viewpoint at the summit of Côte Rouge.

This walk is a variation on the classic tour of the Himalayan footbridges of Lake Monteynard, which does not require a boat trip (for a fee) to return to the starting point. In addition, this route takes you to the Pas du Berlioz (very beautiful view of the lake) and the Pont de Brion. It is hardly any longer than taking the boat, as you don't need to go all the way to the pier, which is quite far away. However, part of the route is a return trip.

A superb, quick walk to the Drac footbridge, along the north bank of the river of the same name, south of Lake Monteynard. Beautiful views of the lake and river, until you cross the Himalayan footbridge before returning.

A lovely route to enjoy with the family through the rolling hills of the Trièves. It alternates between woodland, meadows and a bit of tarmac, without any difficulty.

A short route to get your legs moving as soon as the weather turns fine. No particular difficulty and some lovely views of the mountains surrounding the Trièves!

This is an ideal walk for spring or winter when snow makes the peaks inaccessible for hiking but the mid-mountain range remains clear. Le Goutaroux offers superb views of all the surrounding mountain ranges: Mont Aguille and Vercors, Trièves, the Alps as far as Grenoble and Chartreuse. This circular route is an alternative to the return trip from Trézanne.

An easy hike, best done in spring or autumn. This route will allow you to discover this corner of the Trièves with its snow-capped mountains in spring, as well as the village of Clelles. Throughout the route, you can enjoy views of the Vercors with Mont Aiguille nearby, the Obiou and, in the distance, the Oisans massif.

The first day is a long one, starting at the foot of Mont-Aiguille with alternating steep climbs and gentler passages through mountain pastures and forests.

Starting from Col de Fraisse above Monestier-de-Clermont, visit two viewpoints: La Roche, which overlooks Lake Monteynard, and Côte Rouge, facing the famous Mont Aiguille. On the way, pass by the beautiful beech tree called Arbre à Mimi.

This is a hike that starts with a ferry crossing. The objective is to take the two elegant bridges. The first bridge crosses the Drac. The second bridge crosses the Ebron. Satisfactory markings.

A remarkable circular route offering a breathtaking array of contrasting landscapes. Nestled between the Vercors and Dévoluy massifs and their iconic peaks, the Trièves reveals a sublime andunspoilt natural environment .

This walk in the heart of the Trièves region offers some beautiful panoramic views. You are surrounded by the peaks of Dévoluy and Vercors. The route mainly follows beautiful paths and, in part, small roads.

These two peaks offer a magnificent view of Mont Aiguille and its north-eastern spur, from which you are separated only by deep gullies. But these views have to be earned; the route is demanding, following paths that are sometimes overgrown and often very steep, and is only passable in dry weather. However, the effort required is fully rewarded.

The tour of Mont Aiguille remains a classic, but to appreciate this "ocean liner", what could be better than gaining some height? The view is not only of Mont Aiguille, as from the summit of Goutaroux you have a 360° view: from Grenoble to Trièves, as far as Dévoluy on one side. From the Vercors ridges to the Chartreuse on the other side.

This superb ship, isolated from the main Vercors mountain range, remains docked and admired by all, especially its majestic bow, which dominates the villages of Trézanne and Richardière.

This short walk will allow you to enjoy views over the Trièves and the surrounding peaks, as well as the charming little village of Roissard, typical of this region.

This is a beautiful, easy walk offering panoramic views of the Trièves basin and the surrounding peaks. The route and description were modified on 21 April 2022.

An easy walk, surrounded by peaks: Le Chatel, L'Obiou, Le Grand Ferrand, Les Deux Aiguilles, Le Jocou, Le Mont-Aiguille, Le Grand Veymont... All while passing through the villages of Trièves. A fairly shaded walk, ideal in summer.

A short, easy circular route around Mens, with beautiful views of the entire Trièves region for most of the route. Suitable in all seasons. You can enjoy the shops and cafés in Mens before or after your hike.

A pleasant walk through a cool, shady setting, perfect for enjoying on hot summer’s days. This route takes you to the Esparron hermitage, a key site in local history.

A beautiful variety of landscapes, beautiful views of the Drac gorges, the upper reaches of Lake Monteynard and, of course, the Vercors, Oisans, Obioux, etc. Yellow markings will guide you along the way, and there are numerous hiking signs to help you find your way.

A snowshoe hike (also possible on foot outside the snow season) where you can admire a magnificent 360-degree landscape. (!) Please note that during the summer grazing season, there are herds and guard dogs between (3) and (4). See Practical Information.

Chichilianne is a treasure trove of hikes towards the Vercors plateau. Once finished, some people take the train which stops at Clelles. But few hikers know that you can set off from Chichilianne or La Richardière and reach Clelles station in under two hours, walking alongside an irrigation canal for nearly three kilometres. This return walk to Clelles can also be taken in the opposite direction when you start your journey.

A magnificent hike offering fabulous views. The Chartreuse to the north, the Dévoluy to the south and the long eastern barrier of the Vercors with Mont Aiguille and Grand Veymont.

This beautiful hike takes you to the Hauts Plateaux du Vercors National Nature Reserve via the Pas de l'Essaure, then down the Drôme side through one of the most beautiful sites in the Vercors, the Vallon Combau, before reaching the hamlet of Bénevise on a promontory.It offers beautiful views of Mont Aiguille, the valley and the Combau rock, a feast for the senses, combined with the historical, geological, botanical and faunal riches of the area you are crossing.

A short hike that takes you from the village of Chichilianne to the Col du Prayet, through pine and deciduous forests, under the watchful eye of Mont Aiguille, which accompanies you all the way.

A beautiful route around Chichilianne, with stunning views, including a magnificent view of Mont Aiguille. Note: Due to a long off-trail section, this route is not recommended for hikers who are not experienced in orienteering. It should also only be attempted in good weather.

A pleasant circuit on the eastern flank of the Vercors, which will take you close to the Hauts Plateaux nature reserve and Mont Aiguille.

A long and beautiful hike, like an orienteering game, in search of huts (shepherds’ or hikers’) and precious springs on the Vercors High Plateaus. Fabulous scenery guaranteed. The highlight, undoubtedly the most beautiful natural site on the Hauts Plateaux, is the Plaine de la Queyrie, where I’d love to be reincarnated as a marmot, with its carved tree and its stunning Roman quarry.

A less popular summit than the Grand Veymont, offering a bit of variety across these high plateaus of the Vercors. Breathtaking views, particularly of Mont Aiguille, which dominates the entire start of the hike and part of the return journey.Marmots, ibex and chough will be there to greet you after the climb up the Pas du Fouillet. Dogs are strictly prohibited on this walk as it is situated within the Vercors High Plateaus Nature Reserve. ⚠️ Please note that , as indicated by the PNR, the cable has been removed for the ascent to the Pas du Fouillet.

This walk, the route of which (fully signposted with red and yellow markers) is largely shaded, is particularly pleasant in hot weather. It is strongly advised against undertaking this walk in winter, as the first section runs alongside the Brisou stream on hillsides that are very steep in places. Furthermore, some streams, which are dry in summer, may not be crossable in winter. This is not a family walk suitable for young children!

This hike takes you to the Grand Veymont, the highest peak in the Vercors, via a circular route exploring the ravines at its base. Look out for ibex and marmots! The circular route can be walked in either direction. There are no particular technical difficulties on the route apart from in the ravines, which may require you to use your hands for a bit of scrambling.

This short, relatively easy hike will take you to the ridge, offering superb views of the eastern Vercors range, Mont Aiguille, the Trièves region as far as the Oisans, and the Belledonne massif.

A pleasantly varied loop between vegetation and rock, spiced up by the crossing of a scree slope and a passage with cables at Pas du Fouillet. To be done outside the snowy season.Return facing the imposing block formed by Mont Aiguille. CAUTION! The scree slope and Pas du Fouillet between points (3) and (5) are currently closed (July 2025). At point (3), continue straight ahead to reach the Pas des Bachassons via the Serres and Maupas ravines, point (6), from where you can reach the Cabane des Aiguillettes, point (6), for a picnic. Then, you will need to return to the Pas des Bachassons to continue the hike.

This circular walk takes you up the Petit Veymont and then the Grand Veymont, offering magnificent scenery and stunning views of Mont Aiguille and the Vercors ridge, not to mention the Écrins Massif in fine weather. The presence of numerous animals (chamois, marmots and ibex) will make this long hike all the more rewarding.

A route of moderate difficulty that takes you from the small village of Prunières to a magnificent panoramic view of the Trièves and, beyond, the Oisans and the Obiou massif.

This hike ends on a plateau dominated by the Dévoluy's landmark mountain: the Obiou.

This is a relatively easy short hike that will allow you to discover beautiful views of the eastern slope of the Vercors, the Obiou massif and the Gresse valley as far as Grenoble and the Chartreuse. You will also discover the mountain habitat of this part of the Isère as you pass through the small hamlets towards Saint-Paul-lès-Monestier.

This circular walk starts at the Col de Masserange and allows you to explore some of the many trails around Masserange and its arboretum. Superb panoramic views of the Trièves and the eastern face of the Vercors, and, on occasion (depending on the season and vegetation), of the Écrins massif and the north of the Dévoluy.

Above Gresse-en-Vercors, starting from the Serpaton car park, a circular route towards the Rocher de Baconnet and the Roc de Cognière. It offers stunning views: - to the west over the Gresse Valley and Le Grand Veymont, - to the south over Mont Aiguille, - to the east over Monestier-de-Clermont with the A51 tunnel and viaduct, Lake Monteymard, the Corniche du Drac, the Écrins and the Dévoluy.

A charming, easy walk offering beautiful views of the surrounding peaks. In spring, you’ll enjoy the sound of the streams flowing down from the mountains.

This is a fairly easy hike that takes you to the foot of the Grand Veymont. Beautiful views: from Mont Aiguille to the cliffs of the Vercors barrier.

The Grand Veymont (the highest peak in the Vercors at 2,341 m) from Gresse-en-Vercors is a classic route.This longer route offers a better opportunity to explore the landscapes of the Vercors high plateaus.Note added on 16 August 2026 following a user’s comment.‼️ WARNING: THE PAS DE FOUILLET IS NO LONGER PASSABLE AS THE HANDRAIL HAS BEEN REMOVED. From Gresse-en-Vercors, via the Pas du Serpaton, access to the Rocher du Baconnet via the ridges offers a 360° panorama of the cliffs of the Vercors barrier to the west, mont Aiguille to the south, the Dévoluy and Écrins massifs to the east, and the Chartreuse and Belledonne massifs to the north.

This beautiful circular walk offers spectacular views along this magnificent ridge, with breathtaking vistas over the eastern slopes of the Vercors, Grand Veymont, Mont Aiguille, as well as the Trièves region—including the Obiou and Grand Ferrand—all the way to the Oisans, Taillefer and even Belledonne massifs.

This short hike starting from the village of Gresse-en-Vercors offers beautiful views of the cliffs on the eastern side of the Vercors, from the Grand Veymont to the Moucherolle, then on to the Serpaton and the Rocher du Baconnet. The route, which often runs through woodland, will also allow you to discover two rather curious little peaks: Le Palais and Château Vert, which are small cliffs rising above a magnificent forest.

Hike accessible to all, practically all year round, offering beautiful views but requiring a good knowledge of orientation. Can also be done on snowshoes. No signposts between Pas du Serpaton and Chaumeil.

A short but very pleasant walk in the heart of the Trièves basin. You will have beautiful panoramic views of the many peaks that surround it. A walk that is particularly accessible to families.

A lovely outing, but one that requires fitness given the significant elevation gain. A stunning panorama from the Grand Veymont. You’ll come across other people after the Pas de la Ville.

This easy hike starts from La Ville, a hamlet or district of Gresse-en-Vercors, on the edge of the ski resort, and offers beautiful views of the cliff chain to the west of Gresse-en-Vercors, as well as Mont Aiguille when you reach the Col de l'Allimas. Having done this walk in June, the flora was lush and it was a real treat.

This beautiful hike, marked in green and yellow from La Ville, a district or hamlet of Gresse-en-Vercors, offers beautiful views of the village and its plateau, as well as the Grand Veymont and Mont de l'Aiguille. However, it should be avoided in winter as it is impassable.

A new short circular walk, ideal for a half-day in winter or spring, takes you along paths to a magnificent viewpoint over the Monteynard dam. You will also enjoy magnificent views of the surrounding mountains throughout the route.

Hike in the Combau Valley, a little corner of paradise offering easy access to the high plateaus of the Vercors with splendid panoramic views.

A very enjoyable route on the wild high plateau of southern Vercors. Solitude is guaranteed, except for ibex, marmots and vultures. There are no marked trails on this hike, only a few topographical landmarks to help you navigate the nearly 16 km. However, orientation is easy, as the view is generally very clear. This hike is excellent practice for off-trail hiking. See the practical information for some orientation tips.

The fourth and final stage of the Vercors crossing. We leave the plateau to descend via Chichilianne to the foot of Mont Aiguille. Choosing Clelles station as the end point for this crossing means you can do the whole thing from Grenoble, but it’s of course possible to arrange for a car to be waiting in Chichilianne before setting off.

Are you looking for fresh air and wide open spaces with breathtaking views of the Vercors mountain range and the Ecrins massif? This moderately difficult hike will give you the feeling of being high in the mountains.

This hike, which is suitable for everyone, will take you along a Discovery Trail to a small peak overlooking the little town of La Mure. Crossing the meadows, you will then discover the surrounding mountains from the south of the Vercors to the Oisans via the Obiou. In Prunières, you will visit an old mining well where a magnificent fresco pays tribute to the miners. Paths and trails alternate between shaded and sunny passages.

Discover one of the jewels of the Vercors with breathtaking views of Mont Aiguille, Grand Veymont, Valbonnais and Écrins in the distance. You may spot ibex, chamois and wild boar below between Pas de l'Essaure and Tête Chevalière.

A hike in Drôme and Isère, but starting from the Vercors drômois side. The Vallon de Combau and the Tête Chevalière at 1951m. A panoramic view over the Trièves valley. During the months of May and June, the Vallon du Combau is must-visit destination, where you can enjoy the flora and fauna, particularly marmottes. A relatively easy hike up to the Pas de l'Essaure pass, then a little more difficult.

I recommend a very beautiful route to reach the summit of Jocou from the Col de Menée. This route mainly follows ridgelines (via Mont Barral) on the border between the Diois and Trièves regions, offering stunning panoramic views of the Vercors, Dévoluy and Écrins massifs.

A circular route that is original and varied, alternating between woodland and mountain pastures. There is no shortage of views, particularly of the Grande Tête de l’Obiou, whose imposing presence remains with you for much of the route. Some sections require particular attention to navigation. The Visorando app is recommended (or a hiking GPS).

A magnificent circular route on the Vercors High Plateaus. Access via the little-used Pas de Berrièves. Panoramic views to one side over the Chartreuse, the distant Mont Blanc, Belledonne, the Écrins and the Dévoluy. On the other side, views over the vast, wild expanse of the Vercors High Plateaus. The route passes two rare sights: the (not very productive) springs at Le Playe and La Chau. Return via the Pas de la Ville, where you might spot some ibex. You can buy organic cheese at the farm so you don’t go home empty-handed.

This is a circular loop that immerses you in the world of the Southern Vercors Hauts Plateaux, with no major difficulties other than navigation, and reasonable elevation gains. For lovers of solitude and wide open spaces who aren’t put off by venturing off the beaten track.
