Go to the Merlins car park, taking the Route des Merlins from Susville . Please note! Some car GPS systems, such as Google Maps, are not familiar with the area and may try to take you up via Le Villaret, which is not possible by car.
Large car parks at Les Merlins: park in the first one, below the second.
(S/E) At the foot of the car park, on the left as you arrive, a sign indicates the direction of La Mure. Follow this sign along a good path that heads south-east and is almost flat.
(1) At the "Champ Morand" sign, turn right. Keep heading south-west until you reach a three-way junction.
(2) Keep to the right and continue to a fork located about a hundred metres before the power line: signposted "Combe Prunières".
(3)Turn right, passing under the power line, towards Sénépy , and you will reach a large crossroads.
(4) Head right to stay on the same path, which goes around a building on the left and makes several turns before reaching the intersection with another wide path at Serre de Chat Pendu.
(5) Turn right at the hairpin bend and head towards Col du Sénépy.
(6) Climb left along the ridge on a well-marked path and join a large path.
(7) Continue straight ahead, rejoin the wide path and follow it to the summit of Dénépy: panoramic view and orientation table.
(8) Retrace your steps.
(7) For a bit of variety, stay on the main path, which winds around several bends and offers an easier route back to the Col du Sénépy.
(6) Followthe almost flat main path heading east, on the southern slope of the Sommet du Serre de l'Horizon. Pass under the power line again and walk for about 800 m before the path turns slightly to the left and climbs gently. You will see a drinking trough a little way below.
(9) Leave the main path, heading straight ahead off the trail, and look for a drinking trough below. Keep going in this direction, leaving the watering trough on your right, and walk almost horizontally to find a large path that descends into the undergrowth. Continue along this path, ignoring the smaller paths mostly on your right, and keep heading north-east to reach a large marked mountain path at the peatland.
(10) Descend to the right.
(11) Continue straight ahead to reach the car park (S/E).
