By Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes T95 bus from Grenoble station. Get off at the Garage des Alpes stop, 450 m from the start of the hike.
Or by TER train: 2 km from the station.
(S/E) Turn right, go under the motorway viaduct and continue straight ahead for about 500 metres. At the intersection, take the left-hand path. You will then reach the crossroads at the hamlet of Le Moulin.
(1) Take the path on the left that runs along a fence and follow it to the village of Saint-Paul-lès-Monestier. Cross the D8 and take the passage opposite. At the church, continue slightly to the right until you reach the crossroads with Route de Ponsonnanche.
(2) Take the path on the right and continue to the D8, follow it for about 150 metres, keeping to the left, then leave the road and take a good path on the left, beginning the ascent. Reach the T-junction leading to the Malseret farm.
(3) Turn left, follow the path through the woods to Ponsonnanche.
(4) Turn left, then immediately right, and continue along a good path until you reach the next X-shaped intersection, a four-way crossroads.
(5) Turn right, start climbing, cross one road then asecond, continue to the hamlet of Garnaire. Walk past the houses and you will come to a fork in the road.
(6) Leave the path that climbs to Pas du Serpaton on your right and take a path on the left that descends. Cross a road and continue to the hamlet of Bonnetaire.
(7) Take the road on the left and follow it to the crossroads at Croix de Gruère. Turn right onto the road. Leave it at the next crossroads and take the path on the right, following a hedge of trees. You will come to a footbridge over the motorway. Cross it and you will soon come to another crossroads.
(8) Take the path on the left, enter a pine forest, continue in the same direction, pass close to the Chapelle de la Salette chapel, continue along the same path and begin the descent to the D8. Join the road after passing under the motorway.
(9) Cross the road, turn right to pass under the motorway again, and continue downhill opposite on a good path. After crossing the stream, the path climbs slightly, turn left and reach the stadium car park (S/E).
