Access: After the village of Roissard, take the small road on the left towards Maissenas (equestrian centre). Shortly after the centre, park on the side of the road in the recesses that serve as small car parks.
(S/E) Continue along the road until you come to a path that climbs up to the left.
(1) After a few hundred metres, take the path that branches off to the left (hiking signs, yellow markings). The climb is gentle until the next fork in the road on a good path.
(2) Take a slightly steeper path on the left, heading towards the orientation table. Pass a first summit at an altitude of 993m, then continue down a short descent
(3) Continue straight ahead and begin the final climb to the summit of Côte Rouge at around 1,045 metres. Enjoy the view stretching from the Vercors to the first foothills of the Oisans towards the Pic d'Olan. There is an orientation table here.
(4) Descend via the same route to the previous junction.
(3) At the bottom of this descent, turn left (yellow cross on a tree), then right and continue downhill on a path until you reach a good track.
(5) Turn left for a little over 100 metres and take a path on the right for a fairly rapid descent to a crossroads.
(6) At this intersection, take the first path on the right, which is almost horizontal, and enjoy the view of Lake Monteynard through the trees. You will reach a road.
(7) Follow it to the right and return to the junction you passed on the way there.
(1) Return to the starting point by following the same path (S/E).
This was our third time doing this hike. When we arrived at Côte Rouge, we continued on to extend the route by following a dotted line variant, which was easy to follow. We saw a few hikers at Côte Rouge. There was a lot of mud and water on the variant, but otherwise everything was fine. 9.13 km with 346 metres of elevation gain.
