Our Lake District Escapades

A beautiful, family and dog friendly walk along the River Tyne from Hexham with an optional stop at the Boatside Inn pub before walking back to the Tyne Green Country Park. Easy paths with plenty of shade for summer days.

A short circular walk along the shore of Bassenthwaite Lake with great views over Whinlatter Forest, Dodd Summit and in the distance Grisedale Pike. This walk is perfect for families with young children and also dog owners.

A little circular walk to discover the ruins of Bowes Castle (English Heritage site) and the little waterfall of Mill Force on the River Greta. Perfect for families with young children and also for dog owners.

A short circular walk passing by the beach and dunes of Sandscale Haws National Nature Reserve. Amazing view of the Lake District mountain summits and Duddon Sands. This walk needs to be done at low tide and good navigation skills are needed in the dunes. It is dog friendly, however dogs need to be on the lead.

A short circular walk around the Etang des Belettes at the edge of Rioux-Martin village. This walk is perfect for families with children and for dog walkers. Accessible all seasons, it is a great walk to reconnect with nature.

A little walk in Lowther Park forest that is perfect for families with young children. This walk can be easily extended by exploring the other paths of this forest. Dog friendly walk that is not too popular.

This is a short walk perfect for families with young children. It follows the train line for a little distance and comes back using the England coastal path. It is dog friendly and has some great views of the Cumbria coast.

This is a lovely walk up to Walla Crag summit and walking back by Great Wood forest. It is dog friendly. The views along this walk are incredible, in particular from the top of Walla Crag. The path going up Walla Crag can be a bit difficult, as it is very steep for some people.

A lovely moderate walk passing by the bottom of Udale plantation, nannycatch gate and the side of Flat Fell summit. The descend from Udale Plantation to nannycatch path is steep and can be difficult for some walkers.

This is the riverside walk in the Hamsterley Forest. The path is well marked (follow the blue signs) and very easy. It is pushchair friendly and perfect for little legs. It is dog friendly.  There are several others well marked walking trails and bicycle trails available in the forest. 

A beautiful easy walk to discover Horsey Windpump, Horsey Mere and Horsey Gap beach where you might see some seals during winter months. A lovely walk combining marshes, fields and beach with great views.

A lovely circular walk from Patterdale going to Silver Point. Gorgeous views on Ullswater lake and the surrounding summits. Dog friendly.

A easy circular walk around Tarn Hows and extended to Iron Keld Plantation. The path around Tarn Hows is wheelchair and pushchair friendly. It can also be very busy during summer months. The walk is dog friendly.

Longer walk from Barepot hamlet to Seaton village and Camerton village using the bicycle path and following the river Derwent to return to Barepot. Great view of the Lake District mountains in the distance and the South of Scotland. Dog friendly.

Circular walk from Barepot hamlet, Workington, following the river Derwent and passing by Low Seaton village. Lovely easy walk perfect for the entire family. Dog friendly.

Lovely dog friendly walk to discover St Bees beach, the England Coast path and St bees village.

Easy circular walk around Loweswater Lake. Dog friendly.

A challenging walk to Stile End, Outerside, Causey Pike summits from the village of Braithwaite. Dog friendly.

A lovely circular walk to discover walkmill wood and a little part of Moresby park village.  

A little walk through walkmill woods between Whitehaven and Moresby Park. Perfect for children and dog friendly. 

A medium level walk with gorgeous views on Ambleside and distant summits. Dog friendly walk.

A nice walk to see the Lanercost Priory and walk a section of the Hadrian's Wall. The ruin of Hadrian Wall is not visible on this section.

A lovely walk to see Elter Water and Loughrigg Tarn. This can be a popular walk during the summer months especially until the waypoint (5). Good navigation is needed between waypoints (5) and (8) as the path is not visible especially in summer with all the vegetation. This is a dog friendly route.

Lovely circular walk from Ravenglass following the Esk river and passing by Newtown knott and the Roman Bath. Beautiful view on the Irish sea. Dog Friendly. ⚠️Be careful walk to be done at low tide.

Easy circular walk along the Keswick old railway line and back by the bottom of Latrigg summit. Amazing view of Keswick along the way. Dog friendly and pushchair / wheelchair friendly until the waypoint (1).

Lovely walk around Sale Fell summit with great views on Bassenthwaite Lake and surrounding summits. Dog friendly walk.

An easy circular walk from Ravenglass to Muncaster Castle. Dog friendly. Perfect to do end of April/beginning of May to see the bluebells and rhododendrons blooming at Muncaster Castle.

Visit of Runnymede National Trust to see the Magna Carta monument. Dog friendly walk.

Little circular walk with amazing views across the countryside. Dog friendly but can have some sheep in the fields.

A gorgeous circular walk to discover gelt wood and the river Gelt. Dog friendly walk.

A flat circular walk along the Ravenglass to Eskdale train line starting from Muncaster Mill. Dog friendly walk.

Little dog-friendly walk along the Croe Water river starting from the entrance of Ardgartan Forest Holiday park.

A great easy circular walk starting from the village of Craster and passing by the famous castle of Dunstanburgh and the sand dune of Embleton. Dog friendy.

Great dog friendly circular walk following the river Allen and passing by the remains of Staward Peel. Gorgeous views of the surrounding valley from the path around Staward Peel.

Easy dog friendly walk in the Scottish countryside. This walk is mainly flat and passes in front of some interesting buildings (the old St Mungo's church graveyard and the abandoned Milkbank House).

Lovely walk starting from Dalegarth, following the river Esk until Doctor Bridge, and returning by Low Birker Tarn and the other side of the river Esk. This is a dog-friendly walk. If you take the detour, there is no path to access Low Birken tarn. We can only see the small tarn from above. The view from the path going to the tarn is lovely. Good navigation skills are needed to walk around Tarn Crag as the path is not visible.

Family walk to see the fairy steps starting from the village of Sandside.

This walk goes around Mellbreak summit passing by Mosedale and the shore of Crummock water. This is a dog friendly walk.

Walk to Hardknott fort and Tongue Pot. Dog friendly walk. Perfect walk to go wild swimming.

Dog friendly walk passing by Caerlaverock Nature Reserve and going to Caerlaverock Castle.

Short walk to see the famous Rydal cave. Dog friendly walk.

Easy walk along the shore of Crummock water starting from Lanthwaite wood. Dog friendly.

Dog friendly circular walk from the village of Kirkoswald to the stone circle of Long Meg and her Daughters.

Circular dog friendly walk to Little Dodd and Hen Comb summits starting from Loweswater village. These summits are less popular than Mellbreak summit. Be careful crossing of the river can be tricky if it has rained the previous days.

Circular walk following the Sillon de Bretagne path. Dog friendly.

Lovely circular walk to discover Janet's Foss waterfall, Gordale Scar and waterfall and Malham Cove. Dog friendly. Can be very busy during summer months.

Lovely walk in the wood to see Gibson mill and Hardcastle Crags following the Hebden river. Best during spring time to see the bluebells.

Great circular walk to visit Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the famous ruins of Fountains Abbey. Fees apply to visit the Fountains Abbey.

Circular walk starting from Coniston village and going to the Old Man of Coniston passing by Goat's water. Incredible view at the top of the Old Man of Coniston summit.
