From Muncaster Mill

Start: Muncaster Mill (CA18 1ST). Grid ref. SD 094 976

(S/E) From the car park, walk toward the main road to take the left path toward the little forest. Walk straight on this path that follows the little train line for around 2 Km to reach waypoint (2).

(1) Do not take a left to go towards Miteside Halt but carry on straight.

(2) The path will then cross the railway line and continue following it from the other side. Continue straight on the path that will enter some fields. Cross the fields until arriving on a little farm road by Murthwaite Halt.

(3) Take left on the farm road to talk towards Murthwaite Bridge (that you will cross) and straight to Sandbank until reaching a main road.

(4) At the road take left and continue straight on the road for around 800m .

(5) After the big road bend, take left on the footpath (leaving the main road on your right). Continue on this footpath until reaching Wood End farm.

(6) Take left to cross Wood End farm (be careful some farm dogs can run free) and continue between fields and across fields until reaching Gasketh farm.

(7) At Gasketh, take left (South) and walk towards Miteside. Bypass Miteside houses by using the waymarked footpath and continue straight across field towards the river. Cross the river using the bridge and continue straight to the railway line. Cross the railway line and take the little footpath that goes up in the forest.

(1) Once reaching the main footpath, take right to walk back towards the car park.(S/E)

Dog friendly: No stiles, some sheep in the fields and working farms to cross with some free farm dogs.
