(1) After about 20m turn left to walk on the road going up. Stay on that road until passing a little hamlet and seeing a gap in the dry stone walls on the left.

(2) Turn left to take the path in that gap and go straight up on that path. Continue on the main path to go up (south-west) until reaching Lily Tarn (on your left hand side).

(3) Follow the shore of the tarn (north-west) staying on the main path with the tarn on your left. Continue on this visible path (west then north-west) until reaching an intersection of paths.

(5) Turn left on that large path and continue straight until reaching a river with crossing stones. Cross the river and then take directly the path on the right going up towards Loughrigg Fell. Stay on the main path to go up to Loughrigg Fell. Pass the first cairn and continue straight on the path towards Loughrigg Fell highest point.

(6) At the highest cairn, retrace your steps and left turn left to walk towards Scartufts with a little tarn on your right hand side.
