Description of the walk

(S/E) From the side of Meadow Edge Road, take the small footpath on the right (East) that follows the edge of the river Derwent. Continue straight on this footpath until you reach the little dam.

(1) The path now bends to the left and continues following the river Derwent. Continue on the path until it reaches Fernbank Lane. Continue straight on that road to enter the little hamlet. At the end of the hamlet, turn left to cross the bridge. Then immediately turn right, after the house, to take the footpath by the house. Cross the little stile and continue straight across the field with the little beck on your right hand side.

(2) At a little hamlet, go over the stile and turn left, following the footpath sign to bypass the houses and then left again to exit the hamlet. After a couple of meters, turn right on Fernbank Lane to walk uphill.

(3) Turn left on the footpath, and continue on this footpath until reaching a road. At the road turn left and after a couple of meters, pass the gate to enter a field and then a little wood. Walk through the wood using the main path going down to reach a little stile by a beck and then arriving at a plantation.

(4) Turn left (plantation will be on your right hand side) and after a couple of meters, turn right to continue walking around the plantation. Continue straight until reaching the end of the plantation and the road.

(5) At the road, turn right to walk on Meadow Edge. Continue straight to exit the little hamlet and find the car park (S/E).
