Description of the walk

(S/E) From Meadow Edge Road, Barepot, Workington CA14 1JW, turn left (south-west) to walk towards the entrance of the road and the big roundabout. Cross the roundabout either using the footpath below the road or on the road to access the other side of the A596 and take the path that follows the river Derwent. Continue straight on this path until you reach a bridge.

(1) Walk up Navvies Bridge to find the bicycle track. Once on the bridge, turn right to cross Northside Road and walk North on the bicycle track. Continue straight on the bicycle track until you reach an intersection with several paths.

(2) Keep straight (North) and continue on the path for a moment. You will have fields on your sides and then you will enter a little wood with some houses as the path continues to the East.

(3) Arriving in the center of Seaton village, continue straight on this bicycle track to cross the Main Road. Continue straight (east) towards Camerton village. Keep walking on the path for several kilometers until you reach the end of the path.

(4) Turn right to find a path going down the village of Camerton. At the road turn right.

(5) After a couple of meters, turn left to find a path going towards the river Derwent. Continue straight on the path across fields following the river on your left hand side until you reach a little road that goes to a church.

(6) Walk towards the church to find the footpath, that follows the river Derwent, on the right again. Take that footpath and continue following the river until you reach the little Scarbank wood.

(7) At the intersection of paths in the little wood, keep straight (south-west) to stay in the little wood and continue following the river that will be below you. Keep straight across fields until reaching several houses.

(8) Exit the field, then turn left to turn around the houses and then turn right to pass a little stile and take the path across the field that follows the beck (it should be on your left hand side). Continue across the field until reaching a little stile and then the wall of a house and a road.

(9) At the end of the footpath, turn left to cross the bridge and then right to exit the little hamlet. Keep straight on the road and then take the footpath that follows the river Derwent. Keep on the footpath close to the edge of the river until reaching the car park (S/E).
