Start: Lanthwaite Wood National Trust car park (CA13 9UX). Grid ref. NY 149 215
(S/E) From the car park, pass the gate and directly take the path on the right going down in the direction of the river. Continue on this path following the riverside until reaching the shore of Crummock water (790 m or so).
(1) Take right along the shore of Crummock water and pass the two bridges crossing the branches of the river. Continue straight following the shore of Crummock water. Pass the Pump House and continue straight entering a field (Can have livestock in that field). Continue on this path until it goes down to a small beach.
(2) Before the gate on the beach, take right (North-East) on the path to go around the little hill by the dry stone wall going through the field. (Do not go up the hill but take the flattish path that go around the little hill). Continue on this path until seeing an intersection of paths.
(3) Pass the gate and go straight (leaving the path on the right going toward the shore of Crummock water). Cross Park Beck and continue straight until reaching a road.
(4) At the road take right (North), passing Muncaster house. Continue until reaching the main road. At the road take right (North-East), passing the bridge to reach the car park. (S/E)
