Hardcastle Crags and Gibson mill

Lovely walk in the wood to see Gibson mill and Hardcastle Crags following the Hebden river. Best during spring time to see the bluebells.

Description

Start : National Trust Midgehole carpark, Midgehole Rd, Hebden Bridge (HX7 7AL). Grid ref. SD 988 291

(S/E) From the car park, follow the direction of Gibson Mill (West) by taking the path following the river Hedben Water (signmarked by a red arrow). Continue on the path following the riverside for 1.9Km until reaching Gibson Mill.

(1) At Gibson mill, take left to cross the river over the bridge. Then take right (North) to continue to follow the riverside by the higher path. The river should now be on your right hand side. Continue straight on this higher path until its end (2.1 Km).

(2) At the end of the path, take right to go down toward the river. At the river level take right to walk back towards Gibson Mill but using this time the lower path closer to the river. The river should now be on your left hand side. Continue for around 1Km until seeing a bridge.

(3) Cross the river, go left then right after a couple of meters to find the path following the riverside. The river should now be on your right hand side. Continue on this path through the wood (South) until reaching Hardcastle Crags.

(4) At Hardcastle Crags, continue straight South on the main path until reaching Gibson Mill at the waypoint (1) . At Gibson Mill continue straight on the main path for around 2Km to reach the car park (S/E)
