Description of the walk

Start: Craster Tourist Information, Craster, Alnwick (NE66 3TW) Grid ref. NU 256 198

(S/E) Take the small footpath opposite the information center/toilets building indicating Craster village. At the first intersection of paths, take left and continue until reaching the main road with the sea in front of you.

(1) Take left on the main road to go down the center of the village then right. Walk along the harbor and continue straight on the large path going towards Dunstanburgh Castle. Continue walking towards the castle until nearly reaching it and arriving a gate.

(2) Pass the gate and take directly on the left path (leaving the main path going to the castle on your right). Continue on this little path going around the castle (the castle will be on your right overhanging your path). Continue until seeing the beach in front of you.

(3) Take left on either the coast path or smaller paths to follow the beach (the sea should be on your right hand side). Continue along the dune until seeing a road on your left side.

(4) Take left to exit the sand dune, the golf course and arrive on a small concrete road. Walk up in the direction of Dunstan Steads Farm. At the entrance of the farm take left following the footpath sign. Cross the farm courtyard and continue straight on the footpath. This is a long bitumen footpath passing between fields. Continue until reaching Dunstan Square.

(5) Cross Dunstan Square and take the first footpath on the left. Continue across fields until reaching a large road. Be careful the path is not really visible across the fields.

(6) At the road, take left to walk towards Craster village. At a big bend take the small footpath on the right. Then left on the footpath to reach the car park.(S/E)
