Description of the walk

Start: Bridge Street, B6413, Kirkoswald, Penrith (CA10 1DQ) Grid ref. NY 555 411

(S/E) From Bridge street take right on Ravenghyll street passes Kirkoswald doctors surgery (on your right-hand side) to take the footpath (North-East) that follows Raven Beck. Continue on the path following the river (on your right-hand side) for around 3.5 Km passing through several fields.

(1) At the level of Park Head, take right (South-Esat) to cross the river and go in the direction of Park Head and then Todbank. Pass Todbank and continue straight crossing a road. Continue on this path for around 700 m until reaching another road.

(2) Take right (South-West) on the road in the direction of Viol Moor. Continue on this road for around 1Km.

(3) At the road junction take right (South-West) in the direction of Glassonby beck. Continue on this road passing Glassonby beck up to the village of Glassonby. Go through the village of Glassonby to reach a small square (intersection of several roads) with a telephone box.

(4) Take left (South) on the main road to exit the village. After around 1 Km, take right (West-South-West) in the direction of Addingham church. Exit the churchyard and follow the signed bridleway to Long Meg and Her Daughters. You will cross several fields (some of them can have livestock in) to reach the stone circle.

(5) Once at Long Meg and Her Daughters stone circle take the path on the right (North) going in the direction of Longmeg farm. Continue straight on this path for 2 Km until arriving on a road.

(6) At the road take left (North-West). Continue on the road for around 700m, after Daleraven Bridge take left on the footpath following the river (River Eden).

(7) Continue on this path along the river until reaching the B6413 road.

(8) Take right (North) on the B6413 in the direction of Kirkoswald village. Continue on this road until the village and reaching the car park.(S/E) ( Be careful there is no pavement along the B6413).
