This hike will take you above the beautiful Falaise de la Galère cliff with its breathtaking views to the fascinating Grande Baume cave, which you will cross from end to end. Don't be put off by the elevation gain, as it wasn't too difficult for our old legs.

An unusual departure from the Athélia area in La Ciotat towards the Pas d'Ouillier via the Vallon de Roumagoua to the Cabanon des Gardes with a descent to the Vallon de Gendarme via the Gouffre Durand. Beautiful views of La Ciotat and the Gulf of Sanary as far as Les Embiez dot the path.

The Barres de Castillon are undoubtedly the least visited hills in the vicinity of Cuges-les-Pins, yet it is here that you will find one of the finest panoramic views of the Poljé of the same name: pronounced ‘polié’, a karst depression at the bottom of which a plain forms.

A pleasant walk, starting along the banks of the Huveaune from Saint-Zacharie, with a few local sights, followed by a climb up to the Citerne hill with a beautiful view of Nans-les-Pins, its old village and Sainte Baume.

Yet another climb towards Garlaban, but this one stands out, firstly because it starts from Camoin, but also because the return route via Pas des Quatre Fers is relatively little used. Jean Camoin was the name of a15th-century landowner who owned a lot of land around Garlaban (hence the name of the locality in Aubagne and the district in Marseille).

Yet another hike to the sources of the Huveaune, but one that stands out from the others by heading towards the Grotte de la Castelette via the left bank of the "river" and then a steep (but not impossible) climb over the last few hundred metres to reach it.

A fairly classic hike that starts at Font Blanche and goes to the Chapelle Saint-André de Juhlans and then the Montounier, a hill that rises to 600 m. The route is particularly worthwhile for its beautiful views of Cuges-les-Pins and Sainte Baume, then the Bay of La Ciotat as you descend towards the Grand Caunet. The chapel has been very well restored, perhaps even a little too well. Don't miss the view behind it. There are some tough climbs along this route, which is not as easy as it looks.

For a change of pace, start from the car park in the Saint-Pons valley heading towards Gémenos to complete a circular route – not an easy one – around the Grande Tête, a peak overlooking the Galère and Gour de Brest valleys.

This hike offers a change of scenery, starting from Les Bastides (a district of Roquefort-La Bédoule) to admire the Chapelle Saint-André chapel and its viewpoint, and above all the old Roquefort, which still has some interesting ruins to visit.

This pleasant and fairly easy circular will allow you to discover the hinterland of Port de Carro and La Couronne, in particular the ruins of part of the "Mediterranean Wall" erected by the Germans during the Second World War, as well as the coastline, which has been barely altered by the Ponteau power station.

This is a fairly challenging hike that takes you to several highlights of the Garlaban massif, such as the Col de l'Amandier, the Parloire and the Barre Coupé, the Plaine de la Grive (a strange, undulating plain), the Col du Tubé and the Taoumé. All this with beautiful 360° views of the entire region. This plain should not be confused with the Corniche des Tourdres (thrushes in Provençal), which is located above Lascours.

An unpretentious walk with some lovely views of the Étang de Berre.

A beautiful hike offering varied panoramic views of Sainte-Victoire, the Vauvenargues valley and the Durance riverbed from the crest of Montagne des Ubacs.
