The classic starting point is the car park at the École de Commerce in Luminy, in the southern suburbs of Marseille.
(S/E) Go through the barrier heading south and take the uphill track on the right until you reach a three-way junction (cistern).
(1) Continue straight ahead on the middle branch. The track climbs quite steeply. Stay on it for two short kilometres, crossing the Col de Morgiou. You will reach the Col des Escourtines.
(2) Take the stone stairway opposite. Continue straight ahead to Baou Rond.
(3) Be careful at this point: begin the descent and after 10 metres, turn left (south-east) onto the ridge path visible in the distance.
(4) At the point marked Carrefour on the IGN map, continue straight ahead, staying on theGR® trail and ignoring the paths branching off to the right and left.
(5) Begin the descent with caution. At the bottom, turn immediately left down the slope towards the cove. Once at the bottom, follow the path along the water's edge, which is sometimes difficult to see and narrow, but black markings are a welcome aid. Arrive at the quay and walk around the harbour.
(6) At the end of the harbour, steps carved into the rock mark the start of the climb back up. Walk along the fence that marks the boundary of a dangerous area. When you reach a small cove, take the clearly visible steps. Steps marked by posts make the climb easier. About 150 m further on, turn left onto theGR® trail, which leads back to Luminy.
(7) Pass through a chained passage. A little further up, be sure to take a look at the Fenêtre de Morgiou from a platform on the left.
(8) At the Col des Escampons, cross straight ahead and turn left once on the track. Continue for about two kilometres.
(9) At a three-way junction, take the middle downhill track and you will come to a three-way junction.
(10) Turn right onto the middle branch and continue through the valley until you reach the car park (S/E).
