This route, which can be done on foot or by mountain bike, allows you to discover what made the millstone merchants of La Ferté-sous-Jouarre so prosperous, with their millstones renowned and exported all over the world. It winds through the former quarrying areas, where numerous information boards provide details. Along the way, you can enjoy views of La Ferté-sous-Jouarre and the entire Marne valley.

In the eastern suburbs of Paris, along the route taken by Saint Columbanus, we find all the signs of the Columbanian influence that shaped our countryside and landscapes. The first part of our 26km route through the Île-de-France region is flat, allowing us to take the time to visit the jewels revealed by the churches of Paris, as well as the towns that witnessed the birth of the monasteries that punctuate the route.

The spread of Columbanian rule led to the establishment of more than forty monasteries in Western Europe. Queen Bathilde founded one of the most important women's abbeys in France in Chelles. This second journey, or path of exile, was travelled by Columbanus and his compatriots between 610 and 613, from Paris to Rebais. It marked the beginning of a new journey eastwards to Bregenz on Lake Constance and then Bobbio.

The Chemin de Saint-Colomban leaves the built-up areas behind to take more rural paths dotted with typical Brie villages between Lagny and Meaux. The route crosses the pleasant countryside of Brie, running alongside the canals and banks of the Marne.

Our Île-de-France itinerary continues along a verdant route, offering magnificent views along the Marne valley, set against a backdrop of historical and religious heritage.Saint-Colomban, on his journey into exile, favoured the more welcoming valleys; he followed the Marne then headed towards Metz via Reims; he continued his evangelisation through the Meuse valley, from the Rhine to Lake Constance, before setting off again for Italy, crossing the Alpine passes to stop at Bobbio.

Combining open countryside with views over the Marne valley and the dark woods of the damp hillsides, this route, steeped in history, will allow you to discover the small Briard wash houses and the views that inspired the painters of the ‘École de Luzancy’.

End of this Paris region section of the “Via Colombani”, a detour from the Way of Saint Columbanus which crosses no fewer than five European countries. The identification of the Way of Saint-Colomban provided an opportunity to highlight his major role in the monastic foundations of early Christian Europe. The European Columbanian associations then set about mapping this monk’s route across Europe, marking the major sites along the way with a bronze plaque.

A varied and easy hike that will take you along the Marne to Poincy, through the former estates of Chilperic, a high-ranking Merovingian dignitary. It continues through Germigny l'Évêque and its château, which was much loved by Bossuet. It ends with a route to Trilport through the woods of Montceaux-les-Meaux, the hunting grounds of Gabrielle d'Estrée.

The history of millstone quarrying will accompany us throughout our walk, from the quarrying sites to the port of La Ferté-sous-Jouarre, from where millstones were shipped all over the world.

Our route offers the chance to observe the wildlife along the banks of the Marne, and the return journey provides views of the open landscapes of this valley. The route is accessible in winter, though there are a few muddy patches above Sammeron; there is the option to have a picnic at the tables at the river stop.

Hike to discover the confluence of the Marne and Ourcq rivers, as well as the canal development works that enabled the growth of inland waterway transport in the Ourcq region. A visit to the Villers-les-Rigault lift station will give you a glimpse into a world that is rapidly disappearing.

This route allows you to explore part of the Petit Morin valley between Boitron and Sablonnière via shaded paths and trails along the riverbank. The heritage of the Brie region is revealed through the villages and hamlets you pass through. "Mezons" or Briard houses built of millstone, with walls jointed with coarse plaster, mills, wash houses, but also through unspoilt and bountiful countryside.

This hike in the Omois region between Ourcq and Canal du Clignon will introduce you to the history of this region and its ancestral heritage. Crossing the Marais de Négando allows you to discover a natural setting, amidst the peat bogs and poplar groves of the Ourcq valley, where amphibians, dragonflies, butterflies and numerous water birds can be observed depending on the season.

The ‘Between Marne and Meulière’ walk connects the Bois de la Barre with the Bois de la Bergette, which are preserved sites of the former Meulière stone quarries that made La Ferté-sous-Jouarre’s fortune.

This route offers almost 360° views of Gran Canaria's breathtaking scenery. The fresh air at this altitude makes for a serene hike, with alternating undergrowth and volcanic areas offering sumptuous views.

The municipality of Telde has created a seafront promenade with beautiful sea views, numerous information panels on marine flora and fauna, and access to beautiful black sand beaches.

From its peripheral route, the crater's aerial ridges offer majestic views of the coastline from Telde to Las Palmas. This is a trail of great geological value, whose interpretation is located on the Mirador Bandama, as it plunges into a phreatomagmatic caldera with traces of aboriginal life. Entering the caldera offers a different kind of dreamlike experience, as it is completely isolated and thought-provoking.

As the highest village on Gran Canaria, Artenara offers unrivalled views. Numerous well-signposted belvederes allow you to appreciate them to the full. Artenara is also renowned for its caves, some of which have been converted into guest rooms. Worth a visit.

A discovery tour of three communes: Nanteuil-sur-Marne, Citry and Saâcy-sur-Marne, which are entitled to the Champagne appellation in Seine-et-Marne. A delightful walk offering beautiful views of the Marne Valley and its slopes, where sun-drenched vineyards alternate with deep woods.

This wide-open valley floor of the Grand Morin offers lovely views of the southern slopes, which are now wooded but were once vineyards, producing a light wine for the inhabitants of Paris.

Nestled at the bottom of the Petit Morin valley, the villages of Villeneuve-sur-Bellot, Verdelot and Bellot are sheltered beneath the lush, sloping hillsides. Our trail invites you to discover this rural heritage, where some paths seem to come from another world – serene and in harmony with unspoilt nature.

Saint-Cyr-sur-Morin has seen music hall stars, singers and comedians pass through its various cafés and hotels. Saint-Ouen-sur-Morin offers a more noble past with the ruins of La Brosse Castle. This walk will allow you to immerse yourself in life as it once was, imagining the lively parties hosted by the owner of the Auberge de l’Œuf Dur et de l’Amour, or the lives of the village lords and popular traditions. Along the way, nature flourishes in all its splendour, offering travellers a true delight for the senses and the soul.

At the gateway to Champagne, Montreuil-aux-Lions invites you to take a walk among well-tended vineyards and bubbling streams. In addition to its imposing town hall and listed Saint-Martin church, there are numerous footpaths where you can appreciate the preserved local heritage. Montreuil-aux-Lions is full of hidden gems, some of which have been forgotten, waiting to be rediscovered.

The dunes of Corralejo in Fuerteventura offer a natural spectacle of incomparable beauty. Formed by volcanic eruptions and trade winds, these dunes of marine origin stretch for eight kilometres of fine white sand to the south of the town. Protected by conservation laws, they are a must-see destination for those seeking both the discovery of the seafront and the serenity of the dunes.

The Great Route 131 (GR®-131) is part of an international trail that crosses the island of Fuerteventura and the other Canary Islands. The route takes you from the centre of Corralejo, leaving it a few kilometres further on to climb Mount Bayuyo, which reveals all the beauty of the landscapes of northern Fuerteventura, as well as views of Lanzarote and Lobos.

A magnificent hike to the top of the red mountain, offering views of Lobos Island opposite and the white sand dunes of Corralejo Natural Park. This old inactive volcano is known as Montaña Roja because of its layers of deep red rock and stone interspersed with green rock.

Rising to an altitude of 1,515 metres above the village of Murat-le-Quaire, the Banne d’Ordanche is a volcanic peak offering a 360° view that is truly breathtaking. This hike begins with an ascent, starting with gentle zigzags before finishing with steps leading to the summit of the Banne.

A hike that begins with a lovely climb through lush semi-alpine vegetation, rich in colour and country scents. Le Puy Gros, the remnant of an ancient volcanic dome, offers a unique panorama over the Upper Dordogne valley and the spa towns of Mont-Dore and La Bourboule.

A route that follows the Dordogne river to Saint-Sauves-d’Auvergne along a wooded path, then a gentle climb up to the ridges with beautiful, sweeping views, before reaching Lac du Pré Cohadon. The walk then takes you through the village of Murat-le-Quaire before returning to La Bourboule, which, when viewed from above, reveals its superb architecture, including the Grands Thermes with their oriental-style domes and the stately mansions.

Starting from the tourist office in La Bourboule – a charming town with superb spa architecture, including the Grands Thermes with its oriental-style domes – this circular walk will take you through the landscapes of the upper Dordogne valley, passing through Saint-Sauves-d’Auvergne, a village designated a ‘Classée Commune Touristique’ in 2016.

Starting from Mont-Dore, at the foot of the majestic Puy de Sancy, this route is the best way to appreciate the spectacular, unspoilt landscapes of the beautiful Sancy volcanic massif. With breathtaking scenery, exceptional flora and remarkable fauna, the Sancy region lies at the heart of the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park.

This route takes you along the River Dordogne before heading up to the rural village of Le Pregnoux, situated on the hills above the spa town, then back to La Bourboule via Parc Fenestre, alongside the River Vendeix.
